Just got back from AKL......

It was GREAT!! What a fantastic resort and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. I love the hole concept of AKL. If you have any questions....I'd be happy to answer.

We're going to the AKL in April. Which savannah did you stay on? Did you request a specific room in advance, if so how? Did you see a lot of animals? Did you have any bugs on your balcony? Did you eat at Boma? How was it? LOL, I think that's it. Any help or advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Is there a story time at AKL? Seems to me I read something about it but now I can't remember where.

I read something about the early surprise mornings where the characters are bussed over to the Disney hotels for greetings. Do you recall the day of the week for AKL? We arrive on 3/16 after the cruise and check out on the 19th. Was it terribly crowded? Did you stay in the concierge level? If so, was it worth it? Thanks!

I'm not sure which savannah we stayed in but we saw all sorts of animals. Giraffe's, Impalas, Gazzel's (spelling), and different kinds of birds were some of the animals we saw. When I called to request a room I just asked for a standard view. When I got to check-in, I asked if they had any complementary upgrades available for us. They said that the room was already upgraded to a savannah room! I learned from this site to always ask about complementary upgrades. Each time I asked, we always got one!!!! Isn't that a GREAT tip!! Our rate was $187/nt. We live in FL so we get a discount from standard rate. There were no bugs on our balcony. I think that is due to the time of year. We did eat at Boma. We had breakfast and dinner there. Be sure to make priority seating arrangements. Otherwise you will be waiting a while!! The food was EXCELLENT and we enjoyed both meals very much. Each meal also had some South African dishes. Not many but do be sure to try them...they were delicious.

AKL does have storytime. When you check in be sure to ask for the paper that tells about what is offered each day. Weather permitting story time is held outside.

The characters do come to the resort and they tell you which days. We were there for a long weekend and only saw them on Sunday. I think they come a couple days a week.

The crowds were not bad at all.

We did not stay on the concierge level. We were on the 3rd floor and were VERY happy w/that level.
