Good Evening DISers!
Just got back home from 5 wonderful nights at WDW. We had lots of great meals and snacks galore. Here's a report on a few of our most memorable meals.

Saturday, 2/11 - Dinner at Concourse Steakhouse. Had priority seating for 7pm and were seated right away. Our table had a fantastic view of the monorail which was really fun to watch while dining. Excellent service, our waitress suggested a really good wine (so excited to be there that I forgot the name). DBF and I both ordered the prime rib, very tender and good flavor. A great first meal to kick off our trip. Was nice to be able to hop right back on the monorail to see Wishes at MK.

Sunday 2/12 - Lunch at Alfredo's. Have heard some horror stories about recent food and service at this place. Let me tell you that it was one of the BEST meals I have EVER had!!! Got there right before noon in time to see all of the waiters and waitresses line up to greet all of the guests. Our waitresses name was Gala and it was great to hear her pronounce my Italian last name correctly. The tables in this restaurant are very close together but because we were there for an early lunch, there weren't many people seated around us and it was nice and quiet. We skipped the appetizer and nibbled on the fresh rolls and that delicious olive oil. We decided to splurge on wine and Gala seemed to enjoy telling us about all of the wonderful italian wines on the menu. She was very knowledgeable. I chose a bellini and it was fabulous, you could really taste how good the champagne was, unlike those frozen ones you get at American restaurants (also good but in a different way). We both ordered the fettucine alfredo and it was absolutely delicious, it makes such a difference that they use fresh made pasta. For dessert we had espressos and the chocolate cake. The espresso was the best coffee we had the whole trip and the cake was just right, not too chocolate because it had a nice filling of marscapone cheese. Our waitress also told us that dinner there can get crazy and some nights they serve 1000 guests. If you love italian food, you should definetely try Alfredos for lunch!

2/13 - Hollywood and Vine for Fantasmic dinner package. Great selection on the buffet. Salads were great and it was nice to have a Disney meal with lots of vegetables. Desserts were best, mini snickers cheesecakes, chocolate mousse and a make your own sundae bar with about 15 toppings to choose from.

2/14 - We did character breakfast at Donald's in AK and were relieved to see we were not the only child free couple in the place. Food was great and our waitress was very attentive. We got to see each character and get pictures.

Valentine's Day at Downtown Disney - we had PS at Portobello but after taking a look at the menu we decided we felt like eating something completely different. After reading lots of good reviews on DIS about Earl of Sandwich we decided to give it a try. YUMMY! This place was packed but the wait was worth it. Great value at only $4.95 per sandwich. We had the Original and the Scudetto. We loved it and wished we had gone back a second time.

Yesterday we spend the morning at MK. Had to have a burger at Pecos Bills. Love the fresh hot onions and mushrooms and dipping fries in the cheese sauce. A great CS meal. Spent the second half at Epcot. CS dinner at Mexico was great, but too much food. If you like margaritas, this one's really good, it's called the Fiesta margarita and you can only get it at the Margarita stand between Mexico and Norway. It is a layered mixture of lime, kiwi, strawberry and mango. Very good!

One last thing... We stayed at POFQ and the beignets are very close to the original cafe du monde in new orleans and a real bargain at only $1.99.

Hope you've enjoyed reading this and aren't too hungry.

Thanks for these reviews! I haven't been to some of the places you mentioned and recently posted a thread to try to find places to avoid...But now I have places I want to go to!!!

That made me hungry too!!! :teeth:

Hi, neighbor! :wave2:
I enjoyed redaing your reviews even though we are not going to any of your restaurants! I'll make a note for next trip (gotta start planning! :lmao: )

Howdy neighbors!! We used to live in Marrero (on the Westbank), but moved to the Northshore in Bush (right outside of Covington)!!

We enjoyed our dinner at Alfredo's too! We're going to try Earl of Sandwich on our next trip! We really liked having the beignets at POFQ too!! We had breakfast last Saturday at Cafe Du Monde in Metairie by Lakeside Shopping Center!

Glad you had a great trip!

I live in River Ridge - an expat from the 9th ward. We are staying at POFQ in May and you can bet I know what a beignet should taste like! I'm looking forward to 'em. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the reviews. It seems Alfredo's has been improving lately. Glad to hear it.

Thanks for the post. We head down to POFQ in 8 days for our anniv. Yes the Beignets are good wehad them in Sept. I lived in Shreveport when I was a child and went to NO several times. :sunny:

Sounds like Alfredo's was a winner! Isn't it lovely to enjoy some really good wine with dinner?

Thanks for posting!

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

DD has changed her mind (2 weeks before I need to make ADR'S) and doesn't want to go to Brown Derby. We're going to Alfredo's later in the week so don't want Mama Melrose's. Was thinking of forgoing the Fantasmic package altogether and eating at 50's Primetime. But you seemed to like H & V. What do you suggest?

Thanks for the advice and great reviews!!

Pooch

I also am wondering about H & V. We are supposed to go there in 2 weeks for the fantasmic package, but with all of the bad reviews lately, I have almost canceled it. Is it a good place to eat?
Thanks for sharing your reviews.

Thanks for the reviews!! We were looking for somewhere simple to eat our first day there. I think we will go to DTD and try sandwiches! :thumbsup2

To the person that asked if H&V is worth it: YES!! I know it got bad reviews because of the whole Fantasmic thing, but it was the BEST food we had last trip. I would now consider it one of my favorite eating places in the parks. The service was exceptional. We have already made PS for H&V for our trip next week. So, to sum up: YES, it is worth it. And I personally liked the Fantasmic package deal set up. :cheer2:
