Just returned from 2 weeks staying in Caribbean Beach Resort. Hotel was superb - very clean (we stayed in Barbados) and the maid staggered us with her ability to arrange pillows, toys and flannels in some sort of work of art each day. Note that this hotel is VERY near Epcot so don't expect to sleep before 9pm when the fireworks kick in...every night. However you do get the benefit of watching them whilst rocking in a hammock on your private beach.

Highlights for us were (in no particular order):

1) Superb weather (only one morning of rain)
2) Fantasmic
3) Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
4) Discovery Cove
5) No real queues to talk about
6) Flying UC with Virgin

and many more...

It's difficult getting back to reality.

Glad you had such a good time! :thumbsup2 Any chance of a trippie and some photos?

Glad you had a great time Ric!!
We stayed in Aruba.. the kids loved the beaches at CBR.. and the small boats you can hire!! Ah.... memories!!
We used to enjoy watching the fireworks from the pool area.. when the kids were having a 'late night' swim!!
Would be great if you could put a trippie together for us!!
Time to start planning your next trip????

welocme back, glad you liked CBR :thumbsup2

welcome back, sounds like a fab trip, who needs sleep anyway when you're at WDW? :rotfl2:
Glad you liked Fantasmic, the best show (in my humble opinion) on property!

Welcome back ~ Sounds as though you had a fantastic time :)

A hammock on your own private beach to watch the fireworks - how great was that. Glad you had a good time

Welcome home. I was thinking of staying here next time, I think you've helped me make up my mind. Now how many more Tesco points do I need!

@heatherbelle - I must admit I was getting a little worried having read some of the reports on tripadvisor but we were very pleased with our stay there. I would definitely go back. We had a waterview room which overlooks the lake. This place is HUGE - over 200 acres - but it doesn't really take long to get to the hub (Old Port Royale) wherever you are. I timed it at 8 minutes to get there from Barbados block 11. As far as buses are concerned they seem to arrive via two routes. They either arrive at Martinique or Jamaica first and then proceed to do a complete loop of the resort. We rarely waited more than 10 minutes for a bus.

As a born again worrier I was having some doubts about our stay at CBR booked for the first 2 weeks in November next year.

I have tried hard to convince myself that people tend to post negative views in the main but your report has reassured me immensely.

A couple of questions.

Are you given any choice of room at this relatively quiet time of year or is it pot luck?

We like to tank up on buffet breakfasts and have relied on Sizzlers/ Ponderosa when staying off site previously. What is your view of the CBR food courts (quality and VFM)?

How long did it take by bus to reach the Disney Parks? Were they crowded? We have a 3 year old in tow with us and the plan is for one of us to retreat to base during the day leaving the other one with our 10 year old at the Parks all day. Are the buses constant all day?

Any info greatly appreciated

We've stayed there on 5 separate occassions and love it. We came home 3 weeks ago and stayed in Martinque which is near the food court and main pool. We had to pay extra for this location. Most people prefer the rooms near the food court but this time we noticed they were looking a little tired and not as clean as on passed visits. This is why for next year we haven't bothered to pay the extra for prefered rooms as I think maybe these rooms are used more and thats why there more worn, and after staying in Martinque 4 times I think its time for a change. I don't mean to be negative about CBR by saying it's tired looking, I'm just being honest. We love it and wouldn't be going back again if it was that bad. The staff are really friendly especially the staff at the pool bar. We love the small pools as these are always quite and sometimes you get them to yourselves. The whole resort has such a relaxing feel that sometimes you need on such a busy holiday. The disney buses are also really good and never take too long to get anywhere. Don't worry about staying at the CBR, you'll love it.
