Okay...I got my email about 30 mins ago. I had to pinch myself and make sure I wasn't dreaming! I'm so excited. Especially since I just had my interview on the 6 of April!

Anyways, I have a lot of questions:

* I was offered Merchandising. It was my third choice, only added it because she said there was a shortage. But, Attractions was my first choice. I'm sure some people aren't going to be able to go, so I was wondering if it was possible to change my role before I go down? Maybe a call to the recruiter?
I read something on here that said I would have to re interview...but I don't know what to say about why I want to change without sounding ungrateful about this amazing opportunity! Help?

* Also, I live in a campus apartment right now and we have a thing called a utility cap. Meaning we get "free" electricity that is deduced from our rent, but if we go over the cap, then we have to have to pay the difference. Is everything included in Disney's apartment rent?

* How can I go about looking for a roommate online? I don't care if they set me up with the rest...but I would like to know at least one chill, cool person in case all my other roommates are crappy or...weird. haha

*edit: I'm getting a tattoo soon...it's going to be somplace that I don't expect anyone at WDW to see...lol. Do I have to tell Disney since they asked me at my interview if I had any?

I'm so excited!!!! Okay. Other questions will prob come later.

For Merch I would call the recruiter and say that you feel you would be much better in attractions and could serve Disney better through that role if they had any places open or any offered where decline, I'd ask to be put on a waiting list or something like that and just overall sound very greatful for them listening to your concerns. That seems to work usually. :)

1. You could call and try to change. It's not guaranteed, but as it was discussed in that other thread you might be able to change it. Once you arrive, however, your chances of switching roles greatly decrease.

Merchandise is a great role and I haven't really seen anyone who hated it. However, you can get attractions locations that may not be ideal to you. Keep that in mind! It may be better to accept whats you were given, since whatever happens, happens!

2. Utilities are included in the price that is deducted from your paycheck every week, meaning you owe nothing extra even if you left every light on, three TVs and blasted the air conditioner. Everything is included, including the internet.

3. The Facebook groups are the best way to find roommates. There are groups for each date as well as a group for everyone. People post surveys and what not so you can see who you might be compatible with. Definitely the best way to go. You might also find some other people you might be able to live with, it's just not guaranteed.

4. As long as it is hidden, there isn't really a need to say anything.

haha.
That made me happy.
Because I live in Ga...so that means we have a variety of seasons in a week.
So one day we would need our ac on, the next the heat.
So changing it everyday rose our bill.

So we sat in the dark basically for a month. lol.

yay broke college students!! haha.

Meh. Just called and they said they are filled to the max with students so everything is pretty much settled.

So Merch it is. Either way, I'm excited : )
I'm going to Disney!!! Ahhhhhhh!

Plus, this gives me a reason to come down for a Summer term after this. haha

Hey minniejay
I'm looking for roommates as well. I will be doing housekeeping and will arrive 8/30, when is your arrival date?

I have no idea what day I'm arriving.
I have to talk some more stuff over with my mom as far as school stuff goes.
But I'm defiantly going.

But as soon as I get home and we check out the dates with her, I will know.

You have a facebook?
Lets be friends : )

Congratulations on getting in!! I have an interview in 2 days and I can't remember what I put for jobs. I just was willing to take what's available. What were the questions like, and did they tell you when to expect to go down there?

During the interview you'll be asked the usual: why do you want to apply for the college propram, are you 18, are taking at least 1 credit course. Stuff like that. Then you'll be asked about the roles you picked. Have your role check list handy. You'll need it for that if you don't remember what roles you selected when you applied. You'll be asked to pick your top 2 or 3 roles you'd like to work at. For my interview I was asked which role I was most qualified for and which I was interested in. Every interviewer is different with the way the conduct their interviews. Some people have been asked situational questions like those on the tricky questions thread. And some spend more of their interview time talking about past jobs.
Depending on what season you chose to apply for (fall, fall advantage, fall advantage quarter), that would be the season you'll be accepted into. If you still choose to do the program, you will have to accept your invitation online and pay the assessment fee. After that you can pick your arrival/departure date from a drop down menu.
Sorry it's so long but hope this helps. Good luck on your interview!

Thanks so much for the heads up on what I should expect. Is there any chance of getting called down there for the summer or would it definately be the fall if that's when I want to go? Also, what is the assessment fee? Sorry for so many questions :)

Assessment fee locks your place into the program for the Career Start it was like 104 dollars not sure what it is for you guys in CP.

They could offer you a summer job but you don't have to take it.

The assessment fee locks your spot like wdw_lover mentioned. I think they mainly use it for housing events. During your interview you'll be asked which season you'd prefer. Since it's late in the recruiting season FA might be filled up. I could be wrong although it doesn't hurt to ask about it. If you pick just fall, they will most likely accpet you for fall. I didn't have a preference so I was chosen to participate in for the FA program. Acceptances usually arrive in the form of an e-mail or packet. If you recieve an e-mail first, you still will get a packet. And don't worry about asking too many questions. When I first found out about the program, I had a TON of questions. You'll be surprised about all the information you find about the program that the website doesn't provide.

The assessment fee is also 104 for the college programers.

Thanks for writing back so soon. So what is the difference between Fall Advantage and just Fall...lol? I'm still learning, it's all new to me. I basically woke up today and decided to apply for the program because I had been toying with the idea for some time and kept thinking I was too old for it at 27. I can't find any employment right now where I live in Massachusetts so I figured that it would be a good opportunity to work somewhere fun other than going back to a warehouse job while I'm finishing up my degree. Plus I read that it really looks good on a resume.

I had a friend (passed away unfortunately a couple years back) who did the program at 23 and he loved it. They asked him to stay on for a full year after his 6 months were up. He wanted to go back again after the first stint.

Aawww, sorry to hear about your friend. And I know what's like to look for jobs. Especially in this economy. It took a year for me to obtain the job I have now. I've been able to hold almost 1.5 years now and I am deathly afraid to leave it. I had a co-worker that left for school last Sept and he had planned on working this summer. He lucked out since I will be leaving in just under six weeks. If I had not been accepted he would have been at home jobless until he went back to school.
I answered your question in another thread but will do so here too for others. Fall advantage starts around late May/June and ends the first week of January. Fall runs from August until the first week in January.

Oh excellent, thanks so much for all your help. Yea, I was terrified to leave my job back in October. I was working full time overnight and going to school full time. I thought doing my classes online would've made it easier to work full time, but I actually found doing my courses that way to require much more reading and effort to learn the material. After like two months of no free time ( i literally spent my days off doing 6-8 hours of homework per day), and getting barely 5 hours of sleep a night I had to reluctantly leave my job. I have applied to many places since then and it's really scary how not even part time jobs in a grocery store are hiring right now.

Oh no problem. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. If I don't know the answer someone with a little more knowledge will surely come around with the answer. Me, I can't stand school. I only applied just so I could be eligible for the program. But now I'm stuck with it for the next 2-4 years. I'm the kind of person who hates to quit something once they've started. Since I started school I have to finish it. Besides, this plus the program will boost my resume ten times more. Which means a better job.

Yeahh...what they said. lol
Sorry I didn't apply in enough time but good luck on your interview!!!! :goodvibes

And remember to smile! They can hear it in your voice! And if you can make your interviewer laugh...you should go ahead and pack up your stuff to head to Florida!!

: )
