I'm one of the people who have an AP, but bought a 7 day MYW ticket in order to get the free dining. I just called to have them add my info for DME and got a really nice, helpful CM (Jacquelyn) who as we were going over my information mentioned that she saw we had MYW tickets. I mentioned to her that yes we did, but only my son and D-I-L would be using theirs as I had an AP which I planned to use and then would use my MYW ticket next year after my AP expired. She got real quiet for a minute and then said she wanted to put me on hold while she checked something. Several minutes later she came back and said that if we had bought the tickets seperately that wouldn't be a problem, but since they were part of a pkg that the MYW tickets would automatically be activated at check-in and I would need to add the no expiration option. I told her I had specifically asked that question when I booked and the CM checked with guest services who told her as long as I didn't ever put the ticket into a turnstile it wouldn't activate. She said she had just checked with guest services and was told that with a pkg the tickets activate automatically at check-in. I told her I was a member of three different discussion boards and alot of AP holders on all three boards were doing the same thing I was and had been told by the CMs that it wouldn't be a probelm. She said 'let me get a another opinion' and then put me on hold for almost 15 minutes while she checked.

She finally came back and said I was right and the ticket would not be activated unless I put it in a turnsile. I said no problem as I planned on locking my room key up in the safe and just using my son's or D-I-L's room keys for the free dining. She then said we would all have to have our room keys to 'pay' for our meals, and that the meals would not be pooled onto one room key. She also told me the people in guest services were really still discussing whether or not the MYW tickets purchased as part of a pkg would automatically be activated at check-in, as there were still some of them arguing that it would. They better make their minds up, as there are going to be alot of mad AP holders, if it comes out that we can't use these MYW tickets next year as we were told. I'm tempted to go ahead and pay the extra $55.00 to add the no expiration to my ticket just to be safe. What do you guys think?

I think the CM you spoke to has no clue how the system works. I wouldn't worry about it.

I did the same as you did. I booked us all with 7 day MYW passes even though only my neice needed a pass. I'll be bringing my card into the park with me since it's my key and my credit card, but I just won't be putting it into a turnstyle.

Sorry to hear about the confusion. I hope for all your sakes this ticket problem works out! I'm surprised about the having to have your card to use the dining plan and that they said the "points" weren't all in the same bucket. When we went in April we used 1 card for dining, period...I hope they were giving you the wrong info.

I was told by the reservations CM to request at check-in a certificate for park tix so they wouldn't be put on the card key.

Unless they've changed something, you only need one card to "pay" for your meals. Im sure you already knew that, but I just wanted to add that when we went in June we only used DH's card. I think she got some bad information somewhere about that.

ksjayhawkfan, Love those shirts your children have on in the picture. Did you make those yourself or did you buy them somewhere?? My daughter was sitting here while I was reading this post and saw the shirts and commented on them.

Sorry, did not mean to hijack the post...just could not help myself..love those shirts!

I asked several CMs too, and on Disney's website it clearly states: tickets expire 14 days after first use.

The keyword here is first use. If you don't use it, it doesn't expire and the only way a ticket is used is to put it thru the turnstiles. It the same way as the old regular Park Hoppers used to be. If it's doesn't go thru a turnstile, your days still remain on your card.

I wouldn't worry too much about. Like you, we bought 4 1-day base MYW tickets to take advantage of the free dining and we're not going to use our tickets either. It's going to be just room keys for us and we'll save it up for next year.

She was probably wrong, but I can definitely see why you'd be nervous. Is it possible to have your ticket checked at guest services before you leave to see if it was activated just to be safe. If it was then add the no expiration, but I doubt it will have been. At least that would put your mind at ease and you don't have to worry about a nasty surprise when you go next year. Is that possible?

Excellent suggestion! With all the AP holders who did the same thing I did, I can't see Disney not honoring the tickets when I go back, but I think I'll have GS check on the day we check out to just make sure. I'd rather pay $55.00 to add the nonexpiring option than have to cough up another $250.00 unexpectedly at the beginning of my trip next spring. When I first booked the pkg the CM suggested that when I got down there in Sept to go ahead and upgrade my ticket to a 10 day ticket anyway as it would only cost me about $11.00 more and I haven't decided yet how long my trip will be bext spring. She said that way I would have the ticket in case their prices go up after the first of the year. She was quite sure at that time that there would be no problem not activating my ticket in Sept and just saving it for after my AP expired and even said alot of AP holders were doing the exact same thing, so Disney knows what's going on.
