Just got a postcard.....

I'm booked for 2 different resorts in March and got a postcard. I'm going to call to see if the rates are better than the AP rates I have.

Two years ago, when we booked, we had received a postcard (7 for 4.) And even in the few months while we were waiting for our trip to begin, we received a few more postcards. Then, even after we returned. I think we probably got a total of 7 or 8 postcards that year.

We haven't seen any more since then. :confused3

LOL - that happened to us too - we planned our first trip in 2002 and ordered a video to help plan - we got a postcard in the mail for specials and we booked at CBR for $69 a night ( i think - I can't remember exact price but I thought it was 70 a night ) Anyway we didn't even realize at the time that getting a post card was a big deal - LOL and to think we could have booked AKL or WL for $109 than - LOL We also got a couple post cards after we got home for a return trip - and that is that last we have seen of the post cards :guilty:

I think Disney's randomness in selecting who to send these to is BS.

Did you already have a room booked? I think if they see you have a room booked, you do not get a card or email. Maybe not? Anybody get one after they booked a room?

I just recieved a postcard today and I called to see if there was a difference in prices from what I originally booked. There was! I was able to get the AKL with Savannah view room for 199 a night (221.89 with tax). This saved me $10 a night from my prior reservation. :cheer2:

Just wondering what time period of travel the current post cards are covering? I am waiting/hoping for something for November. Thanks!

Someone on another thread had a reservation booked with a code and then did get a postcard.

Hi there - as an ex-cast member in advertising, I can assure you that it is COMPLETELY random as far as who gets postcards. I worked in the area that actually designs the postcard. It is totally and completely random. It can be sorted in different ways. The list is compiled so many ways...so there is no rhyme or reason to this.

Why do they do this? Any idea?

Last year I made a reservation for my friend for the Poly so she could stay in the same resort as us. I wanted to pay for the room so the reservation was in her name but at my address. I later called to canceled as my DH felt funny about paying for her room-just didn't want her to be offended by the offer. A few weeks later I recieved a postcard in her name at my address. She had stayed with me in 2002 so I just told her that I thought I got the postcard because she hadn't had a Disney reservation in her name at my address in a couple of years. I never did tell her about the canceled reservation. She was able to call and use the card for her reservation at Pop. I didn't even try to use it at the Poly because she wasn't there with us and I had an AP discount.

Sorry to tell you but I got 2 years ago a postcard AFTER I had booked. I happily rebooked with the pin code. ;)

I had a ressie for March and got a postcard last week. I ended up cancelling the March ressie and booking AKL Savannah View for May at $166/nt.

I'm looking to go in the beginning of July just before the offer expires. So you are saying that I should maybe book it and tehn I will be sent the postcard with this offer and make the neccessary changes when it arrives. ::MickeyMo

My postcard says:

Select Value Resorts $74/night 2/17-4/16

Select Value Resorts $59/night 4/17-7/04

Hope that helps :earsgirl:
