just got a Keurig...we were recently dubbed the Keurig Krew......

Kevin's right-the DIS can get expensive.....

I have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew that I use for my morning pot of coffee and I'm really happy with it. Even with that, I'm still looking at the Keurig mini!

I can see myself using it for that one cup of coffee after dinner when I really don't feel like making a whole pot.

Any drawbacks to the mini that you guys are aware of?

Coffeewiz has a coupon code for facebook fans: promo code FB021410 -- expires 2/14/10 -- plus free fedex ground on $50 or more. Looks like their prices are comparable with Amazon before the discount.

Thanks Stacy! :)

A co-worker bought a B30 mini for us to use in the office. Other than not having an actual multi-cup reservoir, one cup size, and taking a little longer to brew, nothing wrong with the mini. You need to add water for each brewed cup.

The mini would be perfect for someone with little counter space or to travel with. Keurig (Green Mountain) makes a travel bag. The Mini is the only model that completely purges itself of water after the brew cycle so it is perfect for travel. The other models have a little water left in the plumming and would most likely leak in your baggage. Plus they are a bit big to travel with. The Mini is a perfect size.

my mini is going with me to Riverside in october. or OKW, depending on which family member you ask.:rotfl2:

Yes, I think my mini will go with us in October, perfect to leave in our OL. Which then means, I'll need to get a full size one for home. :goodvibes

We bought a B200 for the office and buy cases of the K-cups for my co-workers through GreatOfficeCoffee.com for about 40 cents per cup.
Are there better deals out there when buying by the case?:surfweb:

Just wanted to give a shout-out to George for the link to Coffee Wiz. I just bought 146 K-Cups and my total was $57.08 - works out to .39 a cup. Not a bad deal at all! :goodvibes Plus I have the added convenience of having it delivered to my front door Fed Ex, so no need to hunt down BBB coupons and trek out to the store and the variety is awesome! The FB coupon is good for 2 more days (until 2/14). DH bought the Keurig for my birthday but I think he is secretly in love with it too.

I'm buying:
Coffee People Donut Shop (no surprises here)
Timothy's Nicaraguan Fair trade Organic Extra Bold (for DH - bleh)
Timothy's Kona Blend
Tully's Kona Blend (gotta compare!)
Green Mountain Heifer Hope Blend

Plus I have my order from Keurig of 121 K-cups from when I registered my machine coming as well. I gotta figure out how to get my DH to make me a K-Cabinet.

Just wanted to say- awesome thread.... we just got our Keurig in January and I am addicted to the Donut Shop coffee!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Stacy. I just love to share with my friends. :goodvibes I really do enjoy the Fedex service provided by CW. Quick!

My sister only likes Newmans so she is giving me all her "odd ones" as she calls them.

I used to only stalk the UPS guy but now I am on the look out for the Fedex guy too! It's amazing how my priorities have changed - I look forward to getting up in the morning now to try out my the different coffee cups I have. A month ago, Maxwell House used to be a good cup of joe. What was I thinking???

Oh,
FWIW we aren't to keen on the Cafe Escapes hot chocolate or cafe mocha

Val & I just checked in to the Daniel Webster Inn on the Cape for a Valentines Day get-away. (A whole 15 miles away from home.) But the relevant point is that their in-room coffee is a Keurig machine! Pic's on my FaceBook page.

Great info here! :thumbsup2 One thing I didn't see mentioned and wonder about:

Don't all the K-cups come in one size?

If so, how is it that the same K-cup used to make a 5.25 oz. cup of coffee is also able to be used to make the 11.25 oz. cup? Seems the smaller cup would be too strong and the larger cup way too weak. Got to be something I don't know about. ::yes::

Welcome. While all kcups are the same size dimension wise, some are referred to as "extra bold". This does not mean a darker roast. It indicated the kcup has been filled with more coffee.

What drop size you use with any kcup is a matter of choice. Both my travel mug and home mug of choice hold more than 11oz of coffee. I use a Newman's extra bold on the 11oz drop size and I find it a decent cup of coffee for my tastes. Some would find it extremely watered down while others may think it's overly strong.

My rule of thumb is I always use 9oz drop size with any kcup and then I go from there.

Enjoy! :)

Finally! Been reading and watching videos on this and never could get the answer. Many thanks, George! :thumbsup2

I've had the 3 cup size K for a couple of years. I love the convenience of it...and since we have a maximum of 2 cups of coffee a day, it really is much easier than throwing out coffee and filters etc. An additional bonus is that when I am at Epcot, I buy some loose tea in England and use that in my filter. I always think of WDW when I have the tea so it extends that magic a bit.

However, I'm not a coffee connoisseur (had a hard time spelling it) and I have found all of the K cups too strong for my taste. I use the largest setting and usually end up adding some hot water to dilute it. The french vanilla one is tolerable but I'm afraid to keep buying more varieties with the same result.

Most of the time I just use My K Cup filter and buy Dunkin Donuts or Eight O Clock beans and grind them up a bit at a time, which is fine but it does add some time to the process.

Does anyone else have the same issue and have you tried any coffees that were not too strong or bitter?

i think you might find Green Mountain Nantucket Blend to your liking. it is both mild and smooth.:thumbsup2:

My husband prefers a milder blend of coffee also, I finally found one he enjoys: Green Mountain " Breakfast Blend"

That's the beauty of the Keurig - I can have my Jet Fuel blend while he's having his. In the long run - a lot less expensive since we now have no waste. Used to always make 2 separate 1/2 pots of coffee and ended up tossing some of each one out
