Ok, so I've finally got my Big Shot for Xmas from my mum (not that she or DH know that....:rolleyes1) and I've managed OK with the embossing and die-cutting using the sissix brand stuff. :thumbsup2 But I also go a set of x-cut nesting dies, which are too thin to register when I push the "sandwich" through:headache: I watched the tutorial DVD, but my BS comes with a single platform and shim, not the one with layers like the demo shows:confused3 I don't want to return the nesting dies because I love the shape, but how can I get it to work:confused3 Any ideas welcome:upsidedow

I don't know about the Big Shot, but I know when I use the Sidekick with super thin dies, I have to first use a special adapter. With the red machine, I have to end up using 2 adapters. One to make it like a sizzlet, and one to make the sizzlet work with the big machine. These adapters don't come with the machines, they are a separate purchase item.

It looks like you need one of these:

I don't know availability in the UK, but if you can't find one, I'm sure someone can find you one here and mail it. This should allow you to use Quickutz, Nestibilities and the Cuttlekids dies.

I own a Cuttlebug & assume its similar with plexiglass plates of various thickness.

Maybe try adding a layer or 2 of thin cardboard on top? I keep thin cardboard from packaging. About cereal box thickness. Comes in handy for various odd uses.

Thin plexiglass is also availble at glass stores or Home Depot. Maybe they could sell you a small scrap piece.

If you don't have the extra pieces the sandwich calls for you can use cardboard that gets it to the right thickness- if you are going to use it more permentantly than I suggest taping the pieces together to make the right thickness.

Brilliant! Thanks ladies:goodvibes I've got loads opf cardboard from page protector packs etc. so I'll cut a few to size and see how many I need - even fun foam was too thin:eek: (but too thick to use with the Bigz:headache: Or maybe I'm just not pushing it in right
