Just found out my friend's 8yo daughter has terminal brain cancer

I HATE CANCER!!! I lost a dear friend to Glioblastoma in April, and through her family we found out of a young girl who had DIPG. She sadly died, but her mom created a DIPG foundation as her last wish. It's called Aimee's Army. http://www.aimeesarmy.com/ It is a nasty cancer. :sad2:

I am so sorry to hear that. I had never heard of it before until today, but it really seems like an awful form of cancer. I mean, I know it is all awful, but it hitting at such a young age makes it worse to me.

I am about to read about Aimee.

Oh, that is a miracle!

We will hope for the same thing for Madi, even though no one has lived more than 3 years with this sort of tumor. We will hold out hope until the end though.

My friend's son goes in for regular surgery. his Tumor is on the base of the Brain stem- It's impossible to remove is all without paralizing him. They watch it- he goes in for surgery often. But thankfully he was at one of the best hospitals in the country for cancer. (airlifted there when he had his first seizure)

What devestating news. That poor family. :sad1:

Poor boy. :sad1: That breaks my heart.

We, too, are lucky to have some of the best cancer hospitals in the world here in Houston. I guess that also makes it even more scary - knowing they are telling you there is nothing they can do. And surgery is out of the question.

I posted on your other thread as well, but want to say again that Madi and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Life is so fragile.

I am so sorry to hear about Madi.

Too little money goes to childhood cancer research and/or rare cancers.

In spring 2007 our 8 year old granddaughter was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma/Burkitt's lymphoma. We almost lost her twice as the cancer wrapped around virtually every organ in her abdomen. But, thanks to the doctor's at the DC National Children's Hospital she is alive and doing well today.

We need to push for more research in the area of childhood cancer so that more families don't have to go through this.

I'm so terribly sorry to hear that! My prayers are with Madi and her family and friends. I can't imagine what they are feeling right now. May the Lord give them comfort and peace beyond what we can even fathom.

Unbelieveably sad. Just said a pray for Madi and her family.

I am so sorry for your friends dd.
My husband is 10 months in remission from brain cancer.
He said during his whole time in the hospital, the worst part was passing little ones on gurneys, when he was wheeled out for tests. He would pray to god, don't worry about me, take care of them first. It broke both our hearts and can't imagine what these parents are experiencing. We will both say a prayer for Madi tonight.

OMG:hug: this is horrible...I am a nurse but I have always said that children are not supposed to die....I can't even imagine what you or your friend and her family are feeling..

So sad beyond words :sad2:! My heart breaks for sweet little Madi, her poor parents, family and friends. Sending lots of prayers their way.

:grouphug: and prayers to all who are suffering, are survivors, or have lost a loved one to this cruel beast.:sad1:

I am so sorry to read about your friends daughter. I am a mother of a daughter who was diagnosed with a brain tumor so I know how devastating this news is. My daughter had a different tumor type, hers was Medulloblastoma.

I wanted to write to let you know of a few areas of support. The one that I think is the best for parents and loved ones affected is on yahoo groups and is pediatricbraintumors. It is a closed group so there are no weirdo's. It is just other parent's, grandparents, aunts, etc. who are at different parts of the journey. If you want you can also feel free to PM me and I can give you my name etc. to use in reference when you go to register or if you just want to ask any questions or anything.

There is also a wonderful group called HTTP://WWW.ICOULDBEYOURCHILD.ORG Make sure to especially click on the "other resources" tab.

I will pray for your friends daughter.

With hope,

Sherry

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's daughter. Like most people now a days I know people who have had or died from cancer and don't like to hear about anyone suffering from it let alone a child.
