I never took advantage of the Lowes first other than fruit and water. Since our last trip we became Plat members (we did it in 2 stays). I have read that you can get upgraded to a suite being plat...is that true and how does that happen??? Thanks

did you stay 15 nights combined in those 2 stays?

you can call loews first to find out.
give them your # and they will tell you.
or, send an email with your question from their site.

I'm also at platinum level. When I call and book a standard room at RPR, I'm automatically upgraded to a king suite. :)

When you book a gardenview at PBH, you are automatically upgraded to a Portofino Suite when you give your Loews Platinum #. Last year I declined this upgrade because I really wanted a deluxe room. Based on a tip I got on this board, I called the PBH directly and they upgraded me to a Villa Suite.

I have not been successful in getting any type of upgrade at HRH.

I second the problems at HRH getting upgrades. Why are they so difficult to deal with? I don't notice anywhere in the literature on Loews First that states upgrades at RPH and PBH, but not at HRH!! They have also declined to give me my Loews First welcome gift because I have booked with AAA rate. If my kids didn't think that Hard Rock was the coolest hotel on earth, I would definately book at Royal Pacific.

morning star i have not had the same experience that you have had at hrh.

in my stays at hrh, i have had 4 upgrades now. the last one was oct 05.

i still get my loews welcome gift even with using AAA.
you need to request it when you book in the beginning.

last year i was told there were black out dates on 3 of the nights i was staying there. no black out date on 1 night. i did get my welcome gift on that open night.

you need to check with the hotel or universal to find out if there are black out nights for loews gift. at first i was told i was not eligible for the welcome gift, not because of AAA, but because of black outs on loews.
after talking to the reservationist, she said i had one night of the stay with no black out and requested my gift for that night.

if the first night of your stay is a black out, they assume you don't want it at a later point. be sure to ask for each night stay if all are black out dates.

if one person told you AAA disqualifies you for the gift, ask to speak to a supervisor or call back and talk to someone else and have the request put on your ressie.

I've stayed onsite 4 times now; three at HRH and one at RPH and every time was with a discount; Fan Club, Entertainment and last time AAA and every time we got the free gift. I only got an automatic upgrade once at HRH without even asking. I have never asked.

How can you tell you status with Loews? Do you have to call them?

beatty family, call the number on your loews card to find out.
they will tell you, give them your number

or can email a question from the loews site.

faster to call though

What's the difference between a Portifino Suite and a Villa Suite? We used the platinum upgrade for a Portifino suite this coming May, but if the Villa suite is nicer, I may do what you did.

I read on the Loews website that your "status" recycles at the end of one year. So, if you were a Platinum and go one year without spending anytime at the hotels, you are dropped back to Blue.....can anyone verify?

Hello from your USA sister city! They have been pretty good to us about keeping our platinum status once we received it. I think there was once when we didn't stay until June and didn't have enough stays to qualify the previous year and they still recognized us as platinum when I presented the platinum card. I once was asked if I wanted to pay extra for an upgrade and I said that I was looking for a complimentary upgrade. The girl looked again at my card and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were Gold."

After our thanksgiving trip they mailed us a new card that says "platinum" right on it. Do you know if the upgrades work at the Swan or Dolphin?

The Swan and Dolphin are not Loews properties. Starwood I think?

this confuses me because they are listed on the Lowes web site....but it must be a different type of relationship that owner? Yup, I am confused!

Lowes website not Loews? But seriously if you saw the Dolphin or Swan on Loews website I want to see too.

Yup, dazed and confused.I just somewhere in the back of my overworked brain seemed to remember that I actually signed up for the Lowes card prior to my first trip to S/D.I had never used it because i always got such good rates I was sure they didn't qualify.
