My Mom was cleaning again and found a newspaper that her Aunt had sent her when the Magic Kingdom opened. It's a 8 page full color newspaper that ran in the Orlando Sentinal on Wed. Oct 27, 1971!
It's got great photos and the facts are amazing.
The rates at the Contemporary Resort-Hotel or the Polynesian Village were $20 to $40!
Parking was 50 cents!
Tickets for each "adventure" were 10 to 90 cents each!
A guided tour included admission to the Magic Kingdom, transportation, six major adventures and a personal tour guide for $6.50 adult and $3.75 child!
Fort Wilderness rates were $11.00 a night!

Oh to go back in time!!! A lady at work thinks I should sell it on E-bay. I'm not even sure what it would be worth! I think I'll keep it for now. I want to have color copies made so that I can frame each page.

Lucky duck! How awesome! I'm not sure what it would be worth, but I'd hang on to it, anyway! Great idea to have it framed. What luck!

Very cool!

I bought a copy of LIFE magazine with the opening of WDW on the cover. That is fun to look through, but not as rare or detailed as the insert you've found!

That would be worth alot to a collector. Hang on to it!!!!:bounce:

I have a park map from 1972. It is HUGE! I think it is what they gave you to find your way around in the parks. I was a kid. I honestly don't remember, but it has little drawings of all the rides. My mom found it when she was cleaning out and gave it to me because she knows how much I love WDW.

Hey, can you scan it and put some of the pictures up here on the Disboards for us to see? I'd love to take a look!

Antonia - that sounds like the map I found a yr or so ago
I have it up on my wall now

how do you know the date? i dont see a date on mine

I can't believe some of those prices!

Before anything, I would bring it to Kinko's and get colored copies made and keep the original safe somewhere.

That's so neat! Is it in any sort of preservation material? If not, you should get to a craft store and find an archival quality (I wanted to say a folder, but I'm not sure what's available for newspapers) pcoket of scrapbook to store it.
