I figure this is a good place to ask :)

What's the most motivational, clever, funny, or all of the above sign you've seen on a race course? Or better yet, that you'd *like* to see on a race course?

I'm going to be volunteering for a local half as a course marshal, and will be able to have a sign with me, but would like to choose a unique, or at least mostly unique message for our runners.

Thanks in advance!

At Tinker bell, some little kids were holding a sign that said something like "Mommy run fast! Daddy hasn't fed us yet!" My sisters in law loved that one!

On March 6th, runDisney asked this question on its facebook page. There were a ton of good responses. Many were Disney specific, but others would work for any race.

I'm jealous of the creative people who come up with the sign ideas.

I ran the Miami marathon right after Justin Bieber got arrested in South Beach and someone put up a sign saying "Keep running,Justin Bieber is on the loose" with a picture of his mugshot on the sign.

Haha, there's no way I could bring myself to have anything Bieber related, but I do like the humor.

I like the idea of encouraging folks to run for some humorous reason, something like "Keep going, the zombie corral is only 5 minutes behind you!"

The guy at WWOS holding the sign up above his head:

"Run faster, my arms are getting tired!"

I saw three signs during the Dumbo Double Dare that made me chuckle

1) "Run Miley's tweaking behind you."

2) A picture of a sled dog that said, "So, you only ran a marathon."

3) "You paid $175 to run a half marathon, only $37.50 to go."

During the 2013 WDW Marathon, I loved the guy with the "Course Liar" sign around mile 14 or so. He would yell out "You're almost there!" "You look great!" "You're in the lead!" "So close to the finish!" :rotfl:

1. At the TTC at the PHM: "You know you could have just taken the monorail from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom..."

2. Grumpy cat picture at PHM: "I ran once. It was HORRIBLE."

3. At PHM: "Hurry up! They don't open Magic Kingdom until you leave!"

4. At WaD "Free candy from a stranger!"

5. At PHM "Channing is waiting at the finish."

6. At PHM by the hill "That hill looks like it sucks to run up. Glad I drove."

7. At WaD "Is this the line to Soarin?"

8. At Enchanted 10k at about the .50 mile mark: "Smile! You're halfway there!" and the woman next to him holding a sign pointing to the other guy "He's bad at math, but good job anyway."

9. At Enchanted 10k by the finish "I'm not an athlete, just an athletic supporter."

10. At WaD "I trained for months to watch you run while holding this sign!"

At the 2014 WDW Marathon, a woman had a sign that said "You look so skinny!" Smart woman! :thumbsup2

I remember seeing a lot of funny signs during the race, but I can't remember them now.

This is hilarious!! LOL

From the 2013 WDW Half at mile 4: "Halfway there (bad at math)" --> funny yet not at the same time!

From the 2013 Wine & DIne Half around mile 11: "You have stamina. Call me."

:goodvibes

A couple of my favorites:

Runners don't die (though you smell like you have)

I'm sure that this seemed like a good idea 4 months ago

My favorite funny sign was during the 2013 Disney full that read "Chuck Norris counted to inifinity twice but never ran a marathon."

I stopped to take a picture of the sign and the lady (I think they were from the Running of the Ears club/group?)

The most special sign to me (and it still makes me tingle) was during my first marathon. About a mile from the finish there was a rather steep (but short) hill. At the top of the hill there was a lady with a sign that read "I don't know you but I've never been more proud of you."

The perfect sign at the perfect time. I want to thank her and giver her a big hug.

Yay, Columbus! The Cap City is actually the race I'm volunteering for :)

Some signs I remember off the top of my head:

Tinkerbell 2013 (about mile 2): Course Liar: Your Almost there! (I about doubled over laughing at that thankfully was on a walk break)

Disneyland Half 2013 at the espanalde crossing: May the course be with you.

Tinkerbell Half 2014: (guy dressed up as Batman holding sign): I can beat Iron Man!

Tinkerbell 14: Run like the doctor just told you too! (with a picture of the TARDIS on the white board)

And one more: Make it so! (this time with picture of Captain Jean-Luc Picard on the board)

Yeah my inner nerd was very pleased at Tinker Bell. And I'm hoping the people who made these signs show up for DLH and the Avengers Half.

During the PHM 2014.... running up main street...punch for power poster......loved it!

One of my favorite signs was the one at the Mile 10 marker in Pittsburgh. It said "Make Mile 10 your b**ch". I did and went on to PR that race.
