Just finished watching the Olympic opening.....

treesinger-I too did not enjoy Katie and Bob's little jokes...I didn't even watch the whole thing and it got old quick. It would have been nice to just watch it and hear the music without them making constant comments.

snoopy-I fell asleep at 10:15 (not as early as you ;)) but still I missed the rest and I so wanted to see it all! My dh was more interested in Charley so he was watching The Weather Channel more than NBC.

Does anyone know if the opening ceremonies will be repeated??? I know they're being repeated on HDTV, but we don't have that.

I'm I the only one that absolutely HATED the dreadful and mildly offensive jokes that Katie Couric and Bob Costas were telling?

I found their commentary to be obnoxious. Costas was especially annoying with his snide comments.

I kept screaming at the television for those two to just shut up. It was more than annoying.

It was o.k., but I was a little taken aback at how subdued the American team seemed. Why weren't they proudly waving the American flag like the Canadian, German, French, and Chinese teams?

Ended up going to bed after that. I couldn't take any more of the commentary.

We watched it last night and it was great.

I heard on the radio or the tv that it was suggested to the American athletes that they be, oh, what is the word, not laid back but to not stand out in their celebrating.

I also like the beginning where, I believe it was James Earl Jones, was talking and introducing the Olympics to the viewers. I love his voice. And they played the song from Jurassic Park while he talked which I thought interesting.

I also read in the paper that the American athletes were asked to be on thier best behavior and weren't given flags to wave.

I suppose it depends on the source, but in the Boston paper this morning it said that the Americans received a decidedly mixed reaction.
