Biergarten is a favorite of ours. But for our next trip, it looks like we won't have time to do an entire meal there. Is it possible to just have beers (and soft drinks for the kids)? I'm assuming not, since it is a single price to sit down and have all you care to eat. And I don't recall any sort of "bar" seating. But I just want to make sure. I know that there are other places in Germany to grab a beer, but we want to take in the atmosphere and the show if we can.

Go to Sommerfest @ the German pavilion instead. They’ve beer and soda but very limited seating.
I doubt you’ll be able to enter Biergarten without paying for a full meal.

Currently, as a Family Style meal, just like when it was a Buffet, as soon as you enter and are seated, you will be charged for the full meal. They will bring your table the food, whether you order it or not. As PP mentioned, Sommerfest has drinks and if you are there for during one of the festivals, Bauernmarkt has some traditional German drinks.

If you want the show, you'll have to pay for meals. They wouldn't allow it pre-Covid and I've heard reports that the policy is the same even with the menu change.
