I am just curious, but, and I ask this very, very cautiously..... Was anyone else not as impressed with Fantasmic as they thought they were going to be? Could it have been that it was cold, raining, and we waited, needlessly mind you, for
1 1/2 hrs? Just didn't think it was as good as all the hype. I am much more impressed with Wishes and Illuminations.

I love Fantasmic but DH is not impressed with it. He says he can take it or leave it. I am not sure that I would sit in the cold and rain to see it though! To make the wait bearable, we bring snacks and once I brought my paperback. :confused3

I love everything Disney though, so I am probably not the right person to respond.

My DH fell asleep when we went. I thought it was ok, but not a "must do" in my book (Wishes is). I've also seen it with my sister and she doesn't care much for it, either. When I go in Jan with my DD we'll watch it only if it fits into our schedule and she wants to see it.

We have been to WDW over 30 times thru the past 13 years and seen Fantasmic once. That was enough for us. We just don't love Fantasmic. I agree it is not worth the wait. I thought we were the only ones!! ;)

We all love Wishes, Spectromagic and we like Illuminations.

I am glad to hear that not everyone loves it. In about a hundred days spent in the parks over the last few years, it has never fit in our schedule. I do want to see it, but I love Wishes so much I always end up there now.

I'm with you on this one! I love Wishes, would take it over Fantasmic anyday!

Fantasmic didn't do much for me either. -- Really not sure why! The rest of my family LOVED it, but I wasn't that impressed and I really hate sitting and waiting so long in the theatre for it. If I walked by 15-20 mins before it started and there were still seats available, I'd probably go see it again, but I'll never wait go and wait an hour or hour and a half again.

For my vote Ecpot illumations is the one to see, especially at christmas with the extra fireworks. Yes i found it less than i thought but still neat to see.

Finally someone said it. I thought I was the only one! Don't get me wrong, I did like it and the music was really good. But.... I just was waiting to be blown away after all the comments from everyone else. I think maybe that has alot to do with it. Had I never heard of it or if it wasn't billed as the Best Nighttime Show at Disney in some of the guidebooks, I probably wouldn't have had such high expectations. It had to live up to a lot in my mind I guess.

We had the Fantasmic Dinner Package so we didnt have to wait in line, and if we go see it again I will do it the same way. I don't think I will wait in line for it. I guess I'm just an Illuminations kind of girl. You just can't beat Illuminations in my book. The fireworks look so awesome over the lagoon.

I wasn't impressed either....but am going to give it a second chance when we go in a few weeks. I didn't like AK the first time either, but did the second time. so second chances are worth it. we'll see. I do remember the huge cattle drive out....it was a mess.

I am also an Illuminations chick, and like Fantasmic enough, but am not in love with it.

Same goes here. We go 4-5 times a year (for the past 5 years or so), and we've seen Fantasmic twice. (The second time, we accompanied guests).

It's a pretty cool show and I recommend you see it once, but IMHO, the wait really kills it.

I felt the same slight dissappointment with Illuminations in August! We had just seen it in Dec 04 and literally were moved to tears it was sooo beautiful, then in Aug we saw it and went...WHAT?? that was it??? Here's hoping this Dec will be as awesome as last because we are taking all the kids this trip!

We also felt Fantasmic was overrated, but again, it was raining and windy when we saw it too. The other factor for us is that we're night people, and MGM often closes before Epcot or MK, so we tend to enjoy the park with the latest hours.

I think part of it is in your expectations. The first time we saw it we had no expectations.....and I LOVED it....still do. But for the most part I can take it or leave it. I try to make it to see it - but if we can't oh well - it's not the end of the world. I do still however recommend it to anyone going :)

Never liked Fantasmic. Like Illuminations very much, and love Wishes, but just do not get the whole Fantasmic thing...especially those guys swinging on the ropes, what the heck?

Just so you know.

The Fantasmic in DL is much better than the one in WDW.

It (DL) is the original, and does not take place in a specially designed theater. It is done in the middle of frontier land, and is much cooler. The Mark Twain and the pirate ship are used in the presentation.

I LOVE Fantasmic in DL, but found it a bit of a dissapointment in DW.

Wow! I thought it was just me. I saw it for the first time about two weeks ago, and was quite disappointed. After the huge build-up (both on the chat board and in the guide books), I didn't see what the fuss was all about. I feel sort of disloyal saying this, but I was pretty bored! I liked the music, and the "projection onto water" thing was kind of cool at first, but it didn't do much for me. I would have been really upset if we'd spent a lot of time in line, but we did the dinner package and only waited about 20 minutes.

Half the fun of Fantasmic in the good old days was the Streetmosphere entertainment a half hour before the show. I have it on video and I never laughed so hard in my life.

The next time we went to see it I was so disappointed the pre-show was gone. I still liked Fantasmic though.

There is a special holiday version of Illuminations - it is a little different in Dec and you will see it again this Dec (we are going back this Dec specifically to see it again!).

We don't care for Fantasmic as much as Illuminations and Wishes. We have seen Fantasmic several times and chose to skip it last trip. We will probably skip it again this trip.
