Try to be the first ones off by running down the aisle and cutting people? I thought people should exit the plane row by row until the last row is vacant

Anyone ever notice this??

Yeah, and how come the "kicker" always sits behind ME? Some questions have no anwer.

Lot of people request the last row because it boards first and they have plenty of room for carry-on.

On arrival they're just impatient.

I feel for you . . .

I always have the reclined seat in front of me  My tray is always in my lap.

Bathrooms with small children. Flight attendants give you extra special attention when you sit near them.

I seem to often be seated near the large gentleman with the ur, em...... digestive problem:faint: :scared:

Oh, I KNOW why people want to sit in the last row, it's WHY DO THEY RUSH OFF and cut in front of people who are waiting patiently to also get off the plane.

A woman on my last flight almost trampled a family trying to get off the plane before them because her co-worker was waiting for her by the baggage claim...I know this because she was yelling on her cell-phone as we were debording.

You know, I thought that was how it was supposed to work....

BUT

after having just been on 4 planes in 4 days last week I was irritated to discover that American Airlines boards by a "Group" system. You look at your ticket and you board when your "group" is called. There is no logical rhyme or reason for who is in which group. I was in group 2 every time and I was always within 5 rows of the back of the plane. That means that, no matter what, by the time I got to board some people in the front rows had already boarded and were taking their sweet time about putting up their luggage etc. No one boarded any faster because of this "group" system. I went on a plane not too long ago that boarded back to front and it loaded so quickly. no one stopping at row 9 and holding everyone up because they have to stand in the aisle and fiddle with their carry on for 5 minutes.

Southwest has a group system and I love it with small kids you get in the first group!

The same reason why the person in the middle of the plane tries the same thing -- impatience. I don't think it's exclusive to people in the last row of the plane, just more noticable because there's more people they have to climb over. Heck, I've had people try to climb over me when I was in first class -- and they were in first class too, just a row or two behind me. Some people just feel the unexplainable need to be the first person off a plane.

I was traveling with a 3 year old.... and I was still in group 2.. the lady who sat a row in front of me had 2 young kids and they were in group 4.

Has anyone ever gone on a flight with a group? I'm leaving tomorrow with my daughter's class and I wondered if they will let them board before others so that we can get them settled before other people get on. Do you know or have you seen that when you've flown?

I flown on flights with fairly large groups travelling together. No, there's no policy that will allow your group to get on before others. They can all board together if they're sitting in the same section of seats, but otherwise, they'll have to board in the usual manner.

Melora's post reminded me of the movie Meet The Parents. Where Ben Stiller is the only person boarding and she is still making him wait while she calls all the rows before him. That scene cracks me up.

Thanks. That helps - I just had no clue how that was handled.
