Just curious...How high up are you when on Soarin?

A friend and I were talking about Soarin' and I mentioned that I am always somewhat nervous on Soarin' because of being so high up.
My friend says that she believes you are only a few feet up, like 2 to 3 feet high when sitting in the chair.
That didn't seem right to me :confused3
Anyone have any info?

TIA

There are three levels, one on top of the other, so how high you are will depend on the row. If you consider the top row has two rows beneath it, it is probably at least 30 feet (???). Maybe others know for sure. I will say that I avoided this ride for years because I do have a fear of heights. But, while I do grip the armrests at times, I really enjoy it.

What the others said--it depends on which row you're in. Keep in mind, too, that when you enter the room there's a railing between the loading area and the screen, and past the railing there's a pit. When the seats go forward/up, they swing out over that pit (I imagine it's so the floor isn't visible even if you're on the bottom row). The estimate I'm seeing online is 30 feet for the bottom row, 50 for the top.

I get feeling nervous about it. The seats on Soarin' have always felt to me like they have you sitting further forward than makes me feel totally secure. But I've never heard of anyone falling out, so I still ride it.

Much more than two or three feet. There are three rows, the top row would be 40 feet or more up I would guess. The bottom row at least 20.

Yep to that. We sit in the first row and I would say we are 35 feet up. Would be 20 feet last row as a estimate. Like other posters have said, you feel totally secure in the seat.

30-50ft according to this, which matches Wiki’s 40ft. Ya’ll are good guessers. :)

OP- I know fears are hard to overcome and if this would be too scary, don’t force yourself. It is quite safe though. Also, unless you look down, it does not feel like you’re 30-50ft up. Your mind places the bottom of the screen as the “ground”, and that ends a bit below the last row.

Thanks all, just to clarify, I've been on Soarin' many times and actually love it but have to admit I do use the middle safety strap and I hold on for dear life :rolleyes2. When I get off my hands are red from holding on so tight but still it's one of my favorites!!

I smiled as I read your post as I also have a fear of heights and held on tight for my first few rides. Like you it is also one of my favorites.

To me, it actually feels like I am hundreds of feet over the Sydney Harbour, and the African Plain, and the Taj Mahal...

Well, true, if you totally lose yourself in the video then it can feel like you’re very high. Bottom row you can actually see the bottom of the screen and that becomes harder to do.

It's high enough that I never let you sit in the last seat since you can look down and see how high you really are LOL

Its interesting because last time I was in the "front row" I think for the first time, and looked down. At that point if you told me it was 500 feet up I would have believed you ;)

makes for a much more intense ride!

I read that thread before my trip over the summer. I sat on the bottom row because my nephew was a bit scared. I looked down to see if that thread is correct, an they are. Even on the bottom row you are at least 20 feet up off the ground.
What shocked me in that thread is someone was convinced it was only a few feet off the ground.
