Just curious -- does anyone know if the Frozen show on the ships is similar to the one at DCA?

We are sailing on the Wonder this summer. We've seen Frozen at DCA, and we are wondering if the production on the ship is similar. Has anyone seen them both?
thanks,

Oooh that's a good question, I'd like to know, too!

We were on the Fantasy in January and the Aladdin show is very similar to the one that used to be at DCA. There were a few slight differences but overall, same show (it was VERY good, but I still think the one at DCA was better).

In describing it to someone who had just seen the DCA version, she told me it sounded exactly the same. Now, I can't imagine it's EXACTLY the same, b/c the spaces they perform in aren't the same. But I guess the way they use the Anna/Elsa actresses, and the puppetry, etc. all sounded the same. I don't want to describe it too much and ruin it. I suppose it makes sense to re-use scripts, tech, etc. I just missed the DCA version on my last trip there, myself.

It is similar, because obviously they're using the same storyline. And the way that they've adapted the music to fit the shortened show is also similar. Because the stage is so much smaller I guess I would describe it is being less spectacular a show. I liked it, but I feel the same way about the show at DCA, I liked it. Neither of the shows is my favorite stage show either at the parks or on the ships. Bring back Hunchback!

From the previews I've seen on Youtube of the one on the ship (I don't think there are any videos of the whole show, just short clips), it's actually quite different. I was surprised because I thought it would be the same show adapted, with the same costumes and puppetry, but it's not. Obviously I haven't seen the show on the ship so script-wise I'm not sure how similar it is, though from clips even the script is different. It seems like a totally different adaptation - different director, set designers, choreographers, costume designer, etc. It's definitely not the same show adapted for a different space.

Yes, I was thinking that after the time and money they must've poured into it, it would make sense to run it in more than one place. When we saw it at DCA, they were still having technical difficulties, and sure enough, they had them during the performance we saw.

I've never seen Hunchback on stage! I agree with you -- I liked Frozen on stage. Didn't love.

Looks like we were replying at the same time, see my response above yours. You can see some clips on Youtube, they're quite different it looks like.

I had the same question as we saw the show at DCA last August and went on the Fantasy in February.
My wife knows much more about music (and has fantastic musical memory), so I conferred with her:
* Similar costumes/changes and puppetry.
* DCA show seemed longer with more scenes, bigger stage of course.
* Talent is spectacular on both, maybe even better on the Fantasy.
* I believe the Trolls were actual people on the Fantasy and made those scenes funnier.
