Just got back from a follow-up from the medical test I had done 2 weeks ago, and now this doctor has recommended I see another doctor and get a sleep test done since I'm always so tired.

I'm curious just how many people consider themselves to be tired all the time?

I have been constantly tired since last December, and am seeing the doctors as it is one of many symptoms.

I hope this is just for a limited period of time. We moved into a new house in May and our twins (boy & girl) were born in June. We also have a DS 7 & DD 2. I am getting tired just thinking about it, but you won't hear any complaints from me just Zzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

I'm tired all the time and have no idea why. Sometimes I don't get enough sleep but the majority of the time I get plenty of sleep and can still barely drag myself out of bed in the morning. My mom has decided it's time to talk to the doctors, about that and the fact that I'm sick nearly year round.

Yes, but I know the reason: I have a newborn and a 3yo who doesn't nap.

I am tired all the time but I don't sleep well especially from being pre menoausal. Plus, I now have the added stress of DH losing his job in a month or 2. If you are not sure why you are tired all the time it is good that you are following up with the doctor. Good luck with your tests.

Not tired all the time.

If i get tired before bedtime, its usuallybecause I was up late yesterday, or did something more strenuous than usual.

And a decent cup of joe usually fixes that problem.

Have you had your thyroid checked?

That was one of the major indicators that I had a thyroid problem.

I was tired all the time, no matter how much sleep I got. I was diagnosed with depression and the antidepressant does help. However, I feel my best when I'm taking my meds, eating right (low-carb for me) and exercising. Eventually I will scale back on the antidepressant and try to keep my mood up with just exercise and eating right - don't want to keep taking a pill daily for life.

Best wishes, Tammi, for a diagnosis and some relief!

Cranky -- we've been having my thyroid checked every 3-4 months for about 10 years. Nothing.

We've had my blood checked for sugar problems or anemia. Occasionally, I'm anemic, but not often enough to be this tired all the time.

We've tried various medications, stopping them, switching to others in case it was something like my allergy meds. Nothing.

We've checked for infections. Sometimes that's the case and the antibiotic will help, but most of the time, nothing.

I am depressed (after losing my dad this year and some stuff going on at work), but I'm on meds for that and while I *am* able to focus on tasks again *finally*, it didn't help the energy levels that much.

I've tried sleeping longer at night. I've tried "catching up" on sleep on the weekend. I've tried getting *less* sleep. Doesn't matter whether I get 4 or 12 hours of sleep a night, I'm always tired. Anywhere from so tired I can barely stay awake to just groggy, but always tired.

I've tried drinking caffeine, that doesn't help too much. Tried cutting *back* on the caffeine. Did worse than I was doing *with* it.

Um... what am I missing....?

Basically, in an average month, I'd say I have maybe 5 days where I'm not anywhere from quite tired to barely making it through the day.

The only time I can say it's easier to get through the days is when I'm on vacation, and even then I'm tired -- it's just the adrenaline will push me through and give me a burst of energy.

Actually, there is one place where I've felt better than I have in years, and I still haven't figured out *what* made the difference. That was Switzerland. After I adjusted to the time zone, I wasn't even half as tired in Switzerland as I am here. I had more days that were better energy-wise. For once, I felt *normal*. I don't *think* that was just the change of scenery and adrenaline, though it may be.

Whatever the case, we're still trying to find out why I'm so tired all the time -- I just never have had the stamina of most of my friends. I did try exercising more and eating better and while those helped a little, it was 50/50 whether the exercise would give me more energy or just wipe me out even more.

One thing I *do* know... my mom suffered from almost the exact same problem when she was my age. Being tired a lot, no stamina, and no medical test could identify the problem. Finally, when she was in her 30's, thyroid problems showed up on her bloodwork. We're expecting something similar with me.

My answer isn't up there: Yes, I'm tired all the time but we know why and are trying to work on it.

I'm severely anemic, extremely low hemoglobins, and low protein and magnesium levels. Dx: inabilty to absorb nutrients due to Crohn's damage in colon. Treament currently: Remicade infusions to put me into remission, just starting a new vitamin regimine to bump up what I'm getting from foods in hopes my body can begin absorbing again. I also have an open surgical wound that is 16 months old and can't heal.

I hope you find an answer, I went through a year of no answers myself and know how frustrating it can be.

I spent most of my adult life hardly able to get through the day without a nap. When I joined the local Curves, changed my diet (eliminating almost all refined sugar) and really worked on my water intake (I need a gallon a day) that all changed. I had all the thyroid and anemia tests done, too. I really believe that the combination of taking Zoloft and the subsequent weight gain made my tiredness far worse, and I was lucky enough to be able to slowly get off the medication and then do something about my 40 pound gain (half gone so far!).

You didn't have an answer on you poll that fit me.
Yes, but I am 65 and have diabetes, so I expect to be tired all the time.

I went through this same thing last winter. I was completely exhausted. All the tests came back negative. My doc finally started me on B12 injections and a prescription vitamin. I felt much better.
I do have depression that I am on meds for and I have an almost 2 year old plus we are moving nto a new house in 3 weeks, so I am tired, but not as tired. I am still taking the prescription vitamins.

I hope you find out the problem and feel better soon.

Nope, I feel great! Lot's of naps and 8 hrs sleep.

I used to feel tired a lot when I was younger, but when I slowed down I felt rested again.

Yep, I am tired all the time. What I don't know. I am not looking into it currently but I am making changes that I hope will bring me out of this fog I am in.
It is coupled with not ever feeling "well" too.

I have had many tests as well. I just want to go sign up for those full body scans.

I haven't felt GREAT in 14 years.

I used to not be able to make it through the day without falling asleep. Last summer it was getting so bad that I felt groggy all of the time. I was just miserable.

When I started eating low carb last June that all of went away. I feel so much better. I sleep better at night and rarely ever get tired or groggy during the day.

I got completely off my woe for a few days this summer after Chelsea's birthday party. Those evil mini m & m's did me in. ;) My little carb fest sent me right back into feeling tired, miserable and sleepy again. As soon as I got off the sugar and refined carbs I was feeling good again.

Yeah, I'm tired all the time. I could take a nap right now. I'm trying to find out why. I've had lots of tests done (tired being only one symptom), but nothing yet. Thyroid problems run in my family, so I feel like I'm just waiting for it to finally show up in a blood test. I see a new doctor (just moved) Sept. 3 and will ask to have the thyroid tested again.

Yes, I am tired all of the time. Been through every test and remedy mentioned above and then some. Was finally diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after 10 years of tests and surgeries. So yes - I know what it is, but it is not being treated as there is no treatment.

I have just had to learn to live with it which was very difficult for someone like me who had been a super overachiever all of my life.
