Just Closed/Booked!

Hi all,
I've been hanging out here since we got back form our last trip in December 07. We've got a family of 6 now and we started our family (honeymooned) at grand floridian 12 years ago. We've usually gone once a year since then. We've done WL, Contemp, etc... usually going deluxe... then moderate.

Then 1..2...3..4 children and 10 years later we had to book two rooms and trying to stay on a budget booked adjoining rooms to accommodate 6 at AS movies. Ugh! In the middle of that trip we had to take a break and I'd seen those kiosks for all those 12 years of trips and passed on them for all the usual reasons. It took ASM to get me to talk to them... the breath of fresh air was exhilirating. IF I'd had my checkbook we'd have bought a huge contract the day of the tour. Alas, we only use cash or debit.

Back to reality at home and looking at our budget, we looked into resale and made an offer on HHI 150 pts in January. We closed last week and just booked a week a BWV over labor day. We bought at HHI since we live in SC and like the beach too.

I told the guide they should go after more sales at Allstar resorts because that was my last straw... a family of 6 NEEDS a 2 bedroom villa!

Now after all I've spent on the deluxe resorts over the first 8 years of family life, we could have bought a much larger contract! Live and learn.

Now after all I've spent on the deluxe resorts over the first 8 years of family life, we could have bought a much larger contract! Live and learn.

Well, at least you didn't wait until you were a grandfather! We had three rooms at A/S Movies just after Thanksgiving, for 10 family members, and that's what it took to get me to look at it seriously. (I'm still in the planning - and waiting for a CD to mature - stage.)

I got an 08-09 planner book 4 days after I got the email from TTS indicating we had closed. I waited 2 more days to discuss with the wife where and when to book. made a ressie yesterday... total of 6 days passed from the "you closed" email to when we booked.

It sounds like you became DVC members for many of the same reasons I did. With larger families, DVC is the way to go. Not only do you get more space, but the accomodations are as good as they get Enjoy your first trip!
