I'm SOOO excited!! I bought the camera, a 50mm 1.8 lens, and a memory card. That should get me started, anyway. I need to investigate flashes... and I'm open to suggestions! And suggestions for anything else I might "need" right now. ;)

I've loved my Oly e510, but it's starting to have problems. I've taken over 11,000 pictures with it in the 5 years that I've had it. I've learned so much on it, though. It's very "comfortable" for me, if you know what I mean.

Can't wait to get my new toy!! :cool1:

It's always fun to start with a new camera. Before I recommend anything, what kind of photography do you want to do?

I mostly do portraits. I'm doing my dad's wedding in April, too.

Large aperture primes like the 50, 85, 100mm are good for portraits but you'll need more lens (and lights) for a wedding.

I have zero interest in being a wedding photographer (just doing it as a favor to my dad), so I won't be buying anything that wouldn't be super useful in doing portraits. I think I'll probably need at least a flash, and I would like some help in that direction. At some point I'd like to add a zoom, too. There are a TON of options, and they are so much less expensive than the Oly lenses.

DH texted me a picture... the camera has been delivered!! But I'm sitting here at work for another 3 hours. grrrr.

Congrats on the camera!

The 50mm f/1.8 is a great lens for portraits when it's stopped down a stop or two. But shooting a wedding with just the 50 will be really tough.

Thanks!

I'll need a zoom for the wedding, won't I? I'll start saving my Green Stamps. :)

Congrats on the new camera! Did you get the kit lens as well with the 60d? I also have the 60d as I upgraded from the Canon xti. So far I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is perfect for the level of maturity I am in my photography.
