Just changed resorts from POFQ to Poly...

Excited!

I'm running the Tower of Terror 10 miler in October. Originally I had wanted Beach club or YC since they are so close--but they booked up too fast! I ended up booking at POFQ. POFQ looks beautiful, but I hadn't realized that they only have the one pool, which is more of a "theme pool", and I was wondering if maybe POFQ is somewhere I would rather go with my kids.

A few days ago, I noticed that they updated the list of host resorts and it now includes Poly and WL! So I just changed my reservation to Poly! I'm excited--with the exception of the race, all our other plans are at Epcot or MK, plus I made breakfast reservations at Kona Cafe...so Poly just makes more sense, I think.

Only thing is...I am going with my Aunt. I didn't consult her before changing. I hope she's excited about Poly, and didn't really have her heart set on POFQ or anything. I am the one paying for the room, so it's not like she'll be upset about the price difference...I just wasn't sure if maybe she's already stayed at Poly before, and didn't like it...or just wanted to try something new...

I just emailed to let her know... I hope she's as excited as I am!

I would never be upset at staying at the POLY! It s a great resort! Have fun!

I have stayed at both resorts. Poly is my favorite deluxe. FQ is my favorite moderate. I'm sure that if you like one, you will like the other !

I stayed at the Poly once in the early 70's. Then when I was an adult I booked it 3 more times. I was so upset about it from the 70's that I just had to book it 3 more times in the 2000's to ease my pain. The only thing I was ever upset about was the bill.

Seriously, I can't imagine your aunt would be anything but happy about the change. POFQ isn't bad for a moderate (my favorite moderate), but the Poly is a different experience altogether.

We will be there are the same time 10-4 to 10-13, but I am not doing the ToT run. Sounds like a lot of fun.

The EPCOT resorts are booked full, there is a big convention at the Swan/Dolphin too.

Enjoy your stay at the Poly. We found the bus service to be great there, so your trip to DS should be smooth. Depending on what longhouse you stay at, walking to the TTC for the MK and EPCOT monorail might be closer than the GCH. Check out the tikiman website for all things Poly.

My aunt replied "That's fine with me!" so I'm relieved!

We are just going for a long weekend, so I think the convenience of the Poly transportation will really help out.
I still want to stay at POFQ on a future (longer) trip!

My first trip to Disney World ever was back in the mid-80's when I was a kid with my parents. We did a split stay then--some nights at the Golf Resort (now it is "Shades of Green", but way back when it was a Disney resort!) and then a few nights at the Contemporary. I remember going to the Poly to catch the monorail when we were staying at the Golf Resort, and wishing we could stay there...I'm excited to finally have it booked!

While I really liked POFQ I loved the Poly. It's my wife's favorite resort and for me a very close right behind the WL. When we are at WDW, even when we are not staying at the Poly we try to get to Ohana. Our favorite place to dine.

My dh is running the tot 10 miler too and I got the same deal at the poly. I never thought I would want to stay there, but the deal was too good, plus the transportation cant be beat.

We were originally going to stay off site, but for a shorter trip, I think the location can't be beat.
