As most of you probably know from the MANY threads I've created :rolleyes1 , my family and I decided to move from the WL over to the Poly for better transportation. We did this because we have a 1yr old going along with our 14 and 9yr olds, and we figured it'll be a little easier on the 1yr old. Add that to the fact that we will be going to MK and EP 4 of the 8 days we're there (Going to Epcot an extra day for dinner), and 2 of the other 4 days will consist of meals at the Poly and CR, so the monorail seems to be a big convenience for out trip.

So, do you think I made the right choice, or should I have just stayed with the WL and saved that money? What are your opinions on the situation?

Personally, I would have stayed at the WL and saved the $$$ - you're really not going to experience that much better transportation just relying on the monorail. I find the WL much more to my liking than the Poly...but, to each his own.

When are you going?

If it is during the holiday season I would have stuck with WL.

Both resorts provide solid transportation. I think for your 1yo it will be easy at either resorts, since you are most likely the one to do all the work. :) We found the monorail to be very convenient when you have small children in a stroller with the assocated "supply" bag.

I am curious to why you might be thinking you made decision you may regret?

Have stayed at both. With a 14, 9 and 1 year old along with 2 adults - you would be a tight squeeze at WL - Poly is a great resort., the rooms are larger and the transportation - WL may have a boat & busses but you can't beat the monorail, a boat and busses. Enjoy!

Money Saved vs. Convenience. Its a fairly frequent thread topic. Most people are going to sign on and urge you like cheerleaders to their favorite resort but none of us can really understand your own internal calculations. Its your family's budget and vacation. They are both fine resorts. They both will suffice for a fabulous vacation. They both offer unique themes. If you are like most people, you will happy either way, frankly.

If I had extra money to stay at the poly I would jump on it. I dont so my options are AKL and WL. I loved visiting the poly and think it is just such a GREAT location. If you are going to miss that extra money I think the WL would probably be good. I have never been there but have been to fort wilderness and I thought the boat was very easy with my 2 year old in a stroller. As far as I have read WL is a very nice resort and some really love it.

I guess if you have to ask this question maybe that extra money would have done you some good and in that case I say WL.

I think you'll enjoy the extra space at the Poly, as well as the added convenience of the monorail. We were there last week, just me, my husband, and our 2-year old, and we stayed at the WL. It was great, but we were cramped in the room. We had to fold down our umbrella stroller to use the boats, and with the monorail you won't have to do that. I think you'll love the Poly! Have a great time! :goodvibes

We also switched from WL to Poly, so I think you;ll LOVE being on the monorail! If you've not stayed at a monorail resort you are going to so enjoy the convenience...as I type I can hear the sound of the announcment and ding of the monorail doors opening!!

Be still my heart!

Have you looked at tikiman's site? If not, be sure to have your sound on!

You'll not be sorry!

It's worth it for the monorail and the extra space. Other than that I like them equal. The housekeeping at Poly was not good and I just got home yesterday.

Not necessarily regret, it's just indecisiveness. I LOVE the theming and price of the WL, but I like the convenience, Room Size, and the being in the middle of everything feeling of the Poly. Just basically looking for opinions. If you haven't noticed or seen my previous dozens of posts, I value those ;) .

If You can afford the Poly, do the Poly. We stayed there in 03 and LOVED it. My dd wants to stay there again. It is so convenient to everything. You made the right choice!!

Hi - You will be there the same time our family. We have two kids ages 10 and 6 and will be staying Magic Kingdom view at the polynesian, we are so excited. We also stayed at the Wilderness Lodge two years ago when our kids were 8 and 4 and although the rooms were great with another added child I think you might be a little cramped had you stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. You will have a great time at the Poly!

Thanks! That's exactly what I was thinking. I tell you my decision is looking better and better!

I wanted to share that my dd who is now 8 going on 9 remembers her stay at the Poly when she was 4 going on 5. She said it was perfect, Mommy. We could see that parade on the water, we could sit on our balcony and see the castle, it was so pretty, it had a beach, etc etc. She has no clue we are going in November but she has stressed the Poly for our next trip. There are no rooms available so I am looking at WL, CR, or GF. I really dont like the rooms at the WL. I really want the GF but the CR is about 400 less. The point to this story is your kids will LOVE it. We used the TTC for transportation, loved the boat to go to MK, and also used monorail. We just loved it there.

We've stayed at both. Wilderness Lodge is nice and we like the theme. But we really missed the monorail. As others have posted, the rooms at WL are much smaller than those at the Polynesian. There is no real closet in the rooms and we had to leave our luggage jammed in the space between the bed and the wall. Over the years there have been alot of posts about the Polynesian being "dark". Nothing was darker than our woods view room at WL. While WL does have the vanity outside of the bathroom, if you get a room in Tahiti or Rapa Nui, the bathroom will be much larger and have two sinks.

If I were you, I would have made the same decision that you did. Have a great trip!:goodvibes

Listen, transportation aside......which is wonderful.....you'll love the Poly. We've stayed at both places and the Poly hands down would be our favorite of the two. You can't beat the magic of the Poly. We found the boat transportation from WL to be a bit slow. You'll definitely enjoy the bigger rooms at the Poly and the pool as well.

Have fun - can I go with?
