Anyone looking for that cat. can try to book it or maybe a lucky wait list will come through. I decided to use more points to get a Lake view room since I prefer to be higher up and LOVE my balcony!

You won't be sorry. I like the STD view especially the first floor (easy in and out :) ), but we generally keep the drapes closed most of the time and we don't wander out on the patio/balcony much.
The past couple of years we booked lake view over NYE and I really think it was worth the extra points. 2010/2011 NYE we had a room that faced EPCOT and we could see a bunch of fireworks displays (EPCOT/MGM and others) out on the horizon. 2011/2012 NYE we had a room on the other side. It was very serene and we could watch the parasailing out on the lake during the day. At night we could see the MK fireworks from the balcony.

Please tell me about the first floor easy in and out, and where else standard could be. I stayed at BLT std view studio in Aug 2009, the first 4 days it was open. I think we were on 4th floor. Is first floor really ground level? I have booked std view studio for Dec 15-23. I have never been to WDW at Xmas time before, and thought the location would be good for the higher crowd levels and shorter hours. (Usually go May or August.) So you need to keep the curtains closed all the time? No privacy sheers?

Yes 1st floor = grnd floor, but you could be on the 2nd or 3rd floor, too. (And, they reclassified some Theme park views to STD so maybe even 4).

No sheers on the windows, but I believe folks can see into your room pretty well with some lk views and theme park views, too. It is just that if you are on the grnd level it feels even more like you are in a fishbowl with the drapes open.
I like the first floor because you don't have to use the elevator as much.

We had a 2 bedroom standard and according to the rooms charts the 2 bedroom dedicated std rooms were on the 1st floor (1 unit) and 2 on the 2nd floor very limited. I see a lot more std studio's and 1 bdrms a bit higher up.

Did you request any special area? My only request was high up and as nice as the other 2 stays have been we have been in the "C" with a lovely view of the pool/lake but nothing more. Sure would like a lake view with the possibility of catching the fireworks from your balcony or the EPCOT ones like you mentioned.
Thanks
Denise

Which floor is the bridge for BLT? I seem to remember it was a different floor than for CR? How do people like the studio bathroom & kitchen remodel? Have they completed all the studios?

The bridge is on the 5th floor and I have heard good things about the studios new remodel yet everyone says how small they are. I have only stayed in a 2 bedroom several times and my DD stayed in the 1 bedroom with a friend.
