Hi guys, please help me I'm really struggling with the idea of not going next year. Kids starts school in September so fixed to school holidays. I had kind of sold myself on August, problem is and this will make me sound ridiculous but my dad is I thinking of taking the whole family away for my parents 50th anniversary - in august. As there's 9 of us it would probably be Europe which is lovely and I know my kiddo and I will have a blast.

I did manage to catch hubby when he was drunk and suggest a sneaky trip in April. But the prices are crazy. I think it's because I feel a tad cheated by our trip in May as kid was sick and we had nightmare at walk in centre and resulting antibiotic battle.

Ok I know I'm being completely irrational but it's this Disney Disease it's eating away at me.

It a horrible feeling when you know you might not go back for a while. We are going this August but after that we've "planned!" a three year hiatus, as in three years dd would have finished A levels and DS Gcses so figured it would be a good time to go. However the thought is already driving us mad so we've had a sneaky look at an October half term break as we've always wanted to do mnsshp, and I think it's cheaper than Easter. To make it cheaper we're going to look at villas and maybe we can use some of our 100,000 air miles!

I would love to do MNSSHP with DS, we did before he was here and it's so cool. October is only a week and factoring in recovery time I don't think it would work for us.

Ok what I neglected to mention is we booked DLP for a sneaky 3 night trip this October half term. Explorers hotel £239 and tunnel with clubcard vouchers. Even that isn't stopping me sulking.

No irrational at all, I was originally going to give 2015 a miss, but, after staying at Pop and doing it on the cheap in May I am looking at doing May and October next year, renewing my AP will only be £330 and getting all park snack and drinks plus breakfast again from Garden Grocer makes it really doable, I am truly an addict! The second trip may very well be a double header to DL and WDW, just working out the financial viability of that now.

I'm struggling not going this year.

We have been at least yearly since DD was a toddler so it is odd.

Have just booked for 2015 so happier now I can start planning.

If you are wanting a child free trip in April then there are usually some great deals during school time for April/May.

Have to say, it's a real shock when you have to start going in school holidays as opposed to term time, the prices are just ridiculous unfortunately :crazy2:. A friend of mine has just come back after being there 2.5 weeks, her whole holiday has cost less than our flights along for next summer - because she has taken the children out of school....

I would love to go October time (cooler for a start), but as it's only a week, as you say, I don't feel it is long enough, and tbh it's so expensive, I think the value for money side of things makes me think, go for two weeks, it's not much more. But, we won't take our children out of school for holidays....

I keep hoping the government may look to change school summer holidays - there was a rumour they were looking to shorten the summer 6 weeks and add 2 of those weeks on elsewhere. This may give more options for a 2 week holiday, but you can bet your bottom dollar the travel industry will be one step ahead and ramp up those prices for those periods too :confused3.

Hope you manage to find somewhere you an sneak a trip in :thumbsup2.

A trip to Europe!!! WOW! What a wonderful opportunity for your kids.

I'd be so busy getting them ready for that trip, that I wouldn't miss Disney a bit. There is SO much history over there to learn about.

We took our son to England when he was 8 to visit my family. We had a blast. That is wonderful gift to give your kids. There is another world out there :)

It's very tempting but there is no way I could get away without taking DS.

The day we came back in May there was a direct Thomson return flight for £220. Tried to sell it to DH that we could jump straight back on plane and wouldn't have to pack as the cases were already done but he didn't buy it.

I know how you feel.

We haven't been since 2009 and weren't going to go until 2017 but have sneaked a week in October this year.

A big family holiday will be lovely even if you stay in Europe. Why not find out for sure what you are going to be doing next year and then start planning WDW for 2016?

Update - spoke with dad yesterday and he's rethinking his plans so August may well be back on for us..... My mood changed instantly

I totally know how you feel, I'm a bit sad not to being this year but plans and money just wouldn't allow it. We've booked twice for next year April and August, I know I will be gutted to leave in April but thinking about then going back a few short months later is keeping me going. We're using April as a bit of a cheaper option, we're staying in a value resort, no dining plan etc then August we're staying in a deluxe, got all our meals planned etc, just not doing things by halves!

We've been consistently returning to WDW for many years now, it's my happy place, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather go so I don't think it's irrational, I'm always thinking 'how can we go back sooner?'.

i feel your pain! I've not been since 2011 and I won't be there until nearly the end of next year.

It's hard but try to remeber how lucky you are that you get to go as often as you do! And a holiday in Europe isn't all that bad :)

That's great! What made your dad rethink his plans? If he does change his mind again, Could you not try to persuade them all to go to Orlando instead, get a big villa...

Think he got fed up with my brother haha and my sister wasn't as excited as she could have been. My word we sound terrible! He's thinking Easter instead.

No way am I going with my family to Florida. Been there done it when we got married. We are far to planned for them.

Me and dh have said we cant go with anyone else as WE would drive them insane.

It's the same for us we were not planning to go this year but have now added on a week after we have been to New York and Boston.
DH says it wouldn't be right not to go to WDW once a year.
I am not sure about next year prices are much higher than they were but I feel sad thinking about not going.

the years that we havent been able to go to wdw ive always taken a sneaky little trip to dlp to get my disney fix. its so not as good as wdw but we wear our ears from start to finish and make the best of it. the last time we went there was only me and dd 14. dh and dd 18 didnt want to come. their loss. im planning a quick visit over christmas. fingers crossed i can pull it off :)

This thread is a joy to read as it says how we feel and only disers understand.
First DH and I cannot go with friends and family as they just don't understand the planning and Magic.
Also we cannot go next year as our DD is getting married twice once in Cornwall and a blessing in Italy. DH italian. so funds won't allow.
But we are doing a cheapie in September and also went in April.
I know we are so lucky. :)
