We came back from Pop Century on 7-20. (My computer was down for 2 1/2 weeks, thats why this post is late. We loved POP! We were in room 0136 in building 10 in the 70's building. Great location. :yay: We just walked through the parking lot to get to the buses. The food court and pool were only a 3-5 min. walk. My kids are 7 and 13 and they didn't think we were far at all. The pool and food court were all great! The food court is VERY busy for breakfast:rolleyes1 but we expected that! Also, my kids loved the Goofy jets. What a great thing to have! :thumbsup2 We stayed last year at CBR and loved it there also. But for the lower price at POP we would stay there again!! Any questions, please ask.

We are considering Pop for next August 3rd -10th. Did you have any problems with large tour groups at the resort and on buses? We have only stayed at AKL before but due to orthodontic costs for dd10 coming up, we're gonna have to stay somewhere else if we want to go. Was the area you stayed at considered preferred and did it cost extra for that area? Did it have a fridge for water bottles? How many bus stops were there and is the bus stop covered? Thanks!

we also just got back from pop (7/20 - 7/23) and we were also in the 70's section we were in the back facing the lake. the area we were in was not preferred - but there was not long walk to anything. I did'nt want to be far from the action, and now having stayed there- I would'nt pay the extra for preferred. everything is close :thumbsup2
no there were no fridges, we stayed here 3 nights before moving to a fw cabin where we had a full kitchen. at pop we really missed a fridge.
the only times we found it to be crowded was at the food court in the morning and after 7pm
the main pool was always heavy croweded too

we loved  loved it here, but this was our 1 and only chance to stay (with 3 kids) next time my youngest will be to old, and it was a tight squeeze!

I'm glad you had a good trip, I have just a few questions. Did you get the refillable mugs? Was the icee machine working? How was the bus transportation? Thanks!

we did get get the refillable mug, and my ds did get a slushie/icee.
we had a rental car and used that all except 1 time.
one night my dh did'nt feel up to going out so i took my dd and ds on the pop bus. No wait at all getting to Mk, bus pulled right up and only a few people on. (5:30pm)
getting back was another story. the bus line at mk waiting at pop was 3-4 rows deep. we could hear the people at the beginning of line saying they were pushing a 45 minute wait. My ds, dd and I were last ones on, and the people behind us had to wait for the next bus. It was standing room only of course, and my kids were getting tossed around. in retrospect I might have waited for another bus - it felt unsafe (it was pouring rain, the kids standing in a filled bus) not my best judgement- but what else do you do?

Glad you had a nice stay, we are trying pop in a few weeks because we are heading down a few days before our package starts at ASMO. I thought the kids would really enjoy it, it looks fun.

Thanks for the info! I've heard so many people say that the icee machine wasn't working during their stay and we are really looking forward to those! We'll be using the bus system the whole time we are there because my DH isn't joining us and I am not a great driver so I guess we'll just be prepared to wait!

The frozen Coke machine was in and out during our stay July 24th through August 2nd. I never once saw any tour groups of any kind at the resort or on the buses going to and from anywhere. I did see a few in the parks, but they weren't noisy or boisterous. One evening, a handful of girls chanted something on their way out of one of the parks (I think it was MGM) but it only lasted a couple of minutes and there were just a few of them.

We've been to Pop twice, and when I suggested we try one of the All-Stars for next year's family trip, my boys said to stick with Pop. So, Pop it is. Jill, Brooklynn, and I are taking two trips between now and then, and we're going to try ASMu and ASMo, just because we want to stay at all of them eventually.

While we were at Pop, we left a message board up, and several Disers came by and signed it. CommandoNikki signed, my son met MelanieC while she was signing, and we saw 5boyz at the pool.

luvpalmtrees, you were on my fridge swap, but I know the fridge got lost along the way somehow. It's back in action now, with a big lime green Mickey head on the box. It's nice to know you enjoyed your stay. We were right under the jukebox, to the left, ground floor. Brooklynn and I went out to the lake nearly every morning to look at the ducks and bunnies. She loved that.

We only had one long wait for a bus, and that was to DTD late in the trip. Everything else was pretty normal. To everyone headed to Pop, enjoy every minute of your trip. Prayers are with you for safe travel and great times!

Glad you had a nice trip. Got a few questions. We'll be there Sept 3-10. I've read that the walls are really thin and you hear a lot of outside noise, did you notice much? Also do they have Powerade with the mugs? I'd like something other than pop all the time. Thanks

Glad you liked my favoriate resort. I'm going back in 6 days for the third time. I will be there from August 13th through the 23rd. Can't wait. I love this place.

We will be there this friday. Can you tell me how long of a wait at check in? I just posted this question on a new thread, then saw yours. I have visions of 500 people trying to get rooms this friday!!! We look forward to our stay there, we walked through it last year just to check it out.
Thanks in advance.

We are going in December: SHHHHHH!!! the trip is a Christmas present!

I hope our stay at POP is as good as you all say it is as it is our first stay on-site!!

On my last two trips, I didn't wait more then 15 minutes. The first time I went, the line was very long, but moved very quickley. They have pleanty of people to make the line go fast.

Hey, small world-5boyz was in my fridge swap. :goodvibes I haven't heard otherwise so I'm assuming ours is still going well. I'm going to be able to reuse our fridge after using it for the first time last Sept! Sept. 9th with be our 1 yr. anniversary!

OP, glad you had fun. This will be our 4th time at POP and we look forward to returning (though I would have loved to been upgraded to SSR or OKW! )

Tresloves.. you were at Disney for Christmas last year.. How was it? Busy? ridiculous? we're going to be there from 23-31

The map I have seen on these boards is hard to read but where is the bus stop located and which building is the shortest walk to the bus stop?

Hey there! We just got back from Pop. We were there from 7/29 to 8/03. We had a great time. Our room was in the 60's section, building 5 on the back side. We didn't hear any noise from our neighbors and thought that the walk to the food court was quick. We also didn't see any large groups of tourists there and not even very many groups in the parks.

To answer a few questions that I saw people ask-I didn't see any powerade available for the free refills(I could have just missed it too!). We were able to get icees early in the day but at night they were not available. I think that it just takes a long time to freeze the mixture. As for the buses, we used them at the begining of the week, but they were too crowded at the end of the day! We have a 4 year old who didn't understand why he had to stand. A few times, people gave their seat to him, which was really nice. We ended up just taking our own car by the end of the week which seemed to be more time efficient for us.

My husband did laundry one time and he reported that the people in there were "vultures" about geting their washing machines!

Overall we had a great time. We will return there in the future- hopefully soon!
