the AAA discount is 55.00 cheaper then the one I have. I don't belong to AAA so I have to figure out if joining is worth it. I believe I checked yesterday and it was 67.00 to join. But I will have to stay at hotels on the way down and in Atlanta so it might be worth it to join. Thanks for the advice peeps.

AAA is worth it IMHO. Not just for the WDW discounts, but the tow service. Mickey

AAA also provides members free maps, hotel and restaurant guides, and no-fee travelers cheques.

AAA is a great to have for so many reasons! I am glad that you are seeing such great savings.

:)

I have AAA and have been so pleased with them. You may consider joining the AAA plus. The main difference is in the free towing. The plus gives you much more free miles than the standard AAA. If you travel by car much it can make a huge difference. I was stuck in the mountains once and the nearest place over 20 miles away. AAA paid the complete towing expense. (I'm not sure if it's called plus or diamond or premium, they'll know and be able to explain it to you better.) Also, the tickets, maps, services are first rate!!!
just my 2 cents...

I love AAA! I bought the Plus membership (with the 100 mile towing) years ago. I always consider that my first truly adult decision lol. I literally got the card on a Fri and the following Sun, my transmission died about 97 miles from home. Plus, I love going to get maps for everything!

We've been members for years, and I often check for AAA discounts for friends going to WDW, then advise if it would be worth it for them to join for the discounts. So far, 2 families, both camping at FW and towing a camper, found it was a worthy investment. But I have personally never used ANY of the benefits except for a trip tik once. I am a DVC member and an annual passholder, and always try for AP discounts first when not staying on points. I am playing with the idea of keeping my van when it is paid for in a year, and take a break from car payments(as my oldest will need a car then), so AAA may eventually be worth the membership fee to me. Beware that AAA "partners" will solicit your business, and I have called the main number and my local office requesting they not give out my name and phone number to anyone else, or I will definitely be cancelling my membership.

another vote that AAA is worth it. I have been a member since 1996 and it is well worth it. I would also suggest being a plus member. Do you have any friends or family that are members? I am able to get my SIL and FIL a membership for only $20 since I am a member.

AAA discount is 30% (I think it still is anyway) at Lenscrafters! Plus the towing and hotel discounts make it worth it to me.

Park hoppers bought from them at 5% discount. Not a lot but better that nothing. HDDR is 20% off , your hotel on the way down up to 20% off plus the security of road side service. We took a january trip last year and it more than paid for it's self. The savings on that second vacation last year made it even better.

Another vote for AAA. We've had to use the towing. I locked my keys in my new car, they unlocked my car, all included in my AAA membership. They'll bring you gas if you run out. (haven't used that feature yet!)

As mentioned before, the maps are great. Any state or city you can think of, AAA provides, all included in membership. Plus the state tour books and camping books they issue every year with updated prices and directions are wonderful.

And if you use their trip-tic feature, they'll map out your trip for you. I know with the age of computers, you can do that yourself, but they also include road construction areas & a second route to avoid construction.

Each month I go get the newsletter from them. It has great monthly deals on hotels and travel and tickets. Plus their offices are full of brochures and coupons simular to a travel agency.

I think you'll more than get your money's worth!

After having to be towed once on our own dime :( , we don't go a year without AAA. We seem to use the "locked out of our car" service at least once a year and end up having them jump start us a time or two a year as well. There are alot of AAA discounts out there also. Money well spent :D
