I called just a few minutes ago and asked about Disney's plans for the guests who already have existing reservations.

I spoke to a wonderfully honest CM who told me that OPR is going to undergo a MAJOR renovation that will include the addition of a table-service restaurant with an huge open-air kitchen (sorta like O'hana). She said that she heard that the construction will probably be done right on target (beginning of December or so). She also said that the work was being done with the holiday guests in mind (so that they didn't have to move the Christmas travelers to other resorts).

I asked why they would close the entire resort when only the food court was being affected. She said that it's a safety issue....they don't want lots of people around the OPR area during such a huge construction project. I can certainly understand that.

My reservations don't begin until 12/7, so she said I'm probably "safe", but I guess we'll see.

I really hope its completed on time for your trip!! It sounds as if these changes to OPR are major, more extensive than just a refurb.

I know its very upsetting to have your plans up in the air, though :(

Since my trip is from Dec 13-16, I booked YC and was told CBR was NOT available for those dates. I wouldn't want to be hanging and wondering if it would be ready on time. But I'm sure it will be gorgeous when completed.

I am glad that they are re-doing the sit down there. Our family loves CBR but don't like Captain's tavern. The menu is limted and the food was never that great.

I am sure that we will head back there next year then, to try it out. This year we are at POFQ 12-4-11

Thanks for the info

I am scheduled for 12/20 through 12/26. Since they are not accepting any reservations currently through the entire month of December, I have my doubts on whether or not they will open the resort back up even if it is completed by the 1st. I guess it depends on how busy things are. I rebooked to a new resort yesterday. I just can't stand not knowing where I will be staying until a week out.
