YES, when doing the houses/boat and characters with lots of pieces, BIGGER is better. The icons, and border things are okay in the smaller sizes. But when you have lots of little pieces to glue together, ick. Took me forever to put together Donalds' boat.

Congratulations on your purchase. It is a lot of fun.

I use my manual all the time.
Check and double check settings before cutting.
I've been starting things with a black base and building from there.
As stated, bigger is easier to work with.
I made the Minnie head at 2 1/2" and personally wouldn't recommend smaller.

Has anyone made anything smaller by just cutting out the regular picture with the cut out details (make sense?) and not doing it as a piecing?

Ooh, congrats! I just bought it on Ebay and can't wait to get it in and start playing. I've put my Disney scrapbook on "hold" till it gets here.

What paper packs are y'all finding works best for the flesh tone? TIA

I just got mine a couple days ago and made a mickey and minnie, made them both 5" and only had trouble with the small pieces......use your tweezers they really help when appling the glue and placement......have fun playing with your bug.

I'm still playing and learning but here's one tip I got from the Cricut boards - don't waste time or paper doing a pink sheet of paper for the tongues, cut it when you're doing the white pieces, then use a marker or chalk to color it pink after.

For flesh tones I happen to have a shade that is working perfectly that I got in a cardstock pack at ACM - I'm pretty sure Nicole is the brand name, but the cover sheet is long since gone.

I've cut at least one of everyone except Chip and Dale, and I haven't gone below 3 inches. Even at 3 inches the eyes drive me batty. Goofy is particularly tricky because of his teeth. I did a full body Goofy at 4 inches and I still ended up skipping his teeth because they were just too small for me.

I love all the accents though - the Mickey gloves, shoes, etc. Those you can do in all sorts of sizes with no worries.

I've barely scratched the surface of what this cart can do! I'm so glad I got it!

I did Minnie laying on her stomach in 2 1/2" for an autograph book. I ended up doing her clothes as one whole Minnie then cutting that up. If I did just the dress, bow, and shoes, it was starting to tear. The directions are correct in saying the die cuts are too detailed to make them small. I too did the tongue in white then colored it with a little pink marker.
