Just bought walkie-talkies

and my transportation-related question is bring them in the carry-on or check them in the suitcase?

Either. If you bring in your carry-on, you may have to prove that they actually work. Just don't use them on the aircraft.

Well, then the more practical thing might be to pack them. I already have a laptop that they'll inspect, and lots of cameras that I'm worried about with the new warnings and all....

We got walkie-talkies. I had them in our carry-on along with all our cameras. They were no problem. At the airport, they did check our bag, but just quickly.

The walkie-talkies were great!!!! I had debated about bringing them, and was very happy I did.
