Just bought 200 points to SSR. I'm so excited! Now I need some opinions.

We just got back from WDW a couple of weeks ago (took the kids). Now that we bought into DVC, hubby and I would like to go somewhere in September for our 15 year anniversary. I've always wanted to do a cruise (would probably only do the 3 day)
but also think for our first trip, we should go home to SSR.

Ok, I'm ready for feedback!

The cruise takes a LOT of points if you are thinking of doing that. If it was me, I would do the stay at SSR for the anniversary trip. We were at OKW for our 35th anniversary last summer, and when I made the ressies at the restaurants etc. I let them know it was for an anniversary. We got complimentary desserts etc. Artist Point is where we went for our anniversary dinner, and they gave us their signature berry cobbler that was to die for! Being at the resort is (in my opinion) more intimate than being on a ship too.

First off, congrats and WELCOME HOME! I have never been on the cruise but plan to use points at some point to take a 3 day, maybe in a few years. So it is hard for me to give much advice on that.

Well, let me be the first (or apparently third) to say:

Welcome Home

September is a pretty open time, so you might just have your pick of resorts. I expect with buildings opening over the summer that you will have some avialability at SSR, but you might want to try out one of the smaller resorts like VWL or BCV while there is 7 month availability.

Enjoy!

Welcome home!

We are taking our first Disney cruise, the 3 night one in November on points. We love cruising and we love WDW. We are going to the VWL for one night after the cruise.

Either way, it's a very nice way to celebrate your anniversary. On the cruise we're celebrating DH's 60th birthday.

Congratulations & welcome home!

That is exactly what we are doing for our first DVC trip, we are SSR owners, but got reservation for BCV at the 7 month window.

First off, welcome home! Regarding taking a cruise or heading back to WDW for your anniversary....everything I've read on this board makes it sound like it takes a LOT of points to do the cruise thing...and that paying cash makes more sense. I would say, head back down to WDW, and take a nice long anniversary trip in a one-bedroom! I think that in September, you could stay a week at any of the DVC resorts in a 1-bedroom w/200 points.....and I don't think you can go wrong at any of them from the sounds of it!

No matter what y'all decide, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

You can get re-hitched at one of the EPCOT restaurants....someone can tell you more than I know about it but they make a big deal about your anniversary

The Garden Grill @ The Land. Very cool for an anniversary

Rehitching Ceremony -- Wanna let your loved one know you're still committed? The Garden Grill also offers a "Rehitching Ceremony!" Scott Thomas, of PS Calculator fame, writes: When making a PS for any meal at the Land's Garden Grill restaurant, including the Ice Cream Social, tell the Cast Member making the PS to note you would like to be rehitched. When you check in at the Garden Grill make sure you mention it to both the CM at the podium and your server when getting seated. I don't want to spill the beans about the ceremony but it's a fun, quick way to add a little fun at WDW. Oh, and take a deep breath when kissing your bride/groom!"

We did the re-hitching ceremony at Garden Grill on our anniversary trip too! It was an absolute HOOT! They make you kiss to the count of 100!

Congratulations and Welcome Home!

We have been members for 4 years and have always used up our points for WDW stays, even after adding on 3 times. We are taking our first DCL cruise next August for the 14 day repositioning cruise and paying cash. Isn't great to have all the options??

Congratulations and Welcome Home!

We are also celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary too.

We made ressies at SSR for 4 days in August (2nd - 5th) for 39 pts. without the DK's to celebrate our day together.

Check Air Tran and Southwest Airlines. We got one way fare from Baltimore to Orlando for $75.00 (that included all taxes and surcharges too!).

LOL!!!
