We have just bought in to DVC through a re-sale at OKW and are really excited :jumping1:

I am told that it should take about 6-8 weeks for it to all go through and for us to be registered on the Disney site to start making bookings.

My question is this - we currently have a ressie at the Contemporary for 5 nights at the end of August. I want to cancel this and book at OKW using my DVC points.

What chance will I have of getting a studio at OKW for 5 nights at the end of August only booking it 6 months out? or would there be any other DVC resorts that I could get a studio booked at only 6 months before we needed to go.

The second question is - if I can cancel my Contemporary ressie can I give Disney a different CC to refund my deposit to or do they have to use the one I made the booking with

Thanks

First off: WELCOME HOME!!!
I doubt if you will have too much trouble making a reservation 6 months out for that time frame. Even if you have to waitlist, I bet it will come through. I would keep the reservation you currently have until you make the new reservation through DVC. I can't answer your second question about crediting a different card when you cancel. Maybe someone else out there knows the answer to that one.

However you paid the ressie, they refund exactly the same way. I know I made the mistake of helping a friend with a part of her ressie, she did not have a cc, I secured her ressie with 200 down, and she has already rescheduled once, and now may not go at all!! So after I am refunded to my cc, I have to pay her the 200 back. Well lesson learned here, never again!!! Thank god, she didn't rent points from someone here or I would really feel in the dumps!!!! :sad2:

Just wanted to confirm what Debbiedoo is saying. It is part of the rules for retailers and service providers that accept credit cards that adjustments and refund go on the same card as the original purchase. It is also for their own protection in case a charge is disputed by the customer.

You should have very little trouble booking an OKW studio August. I've changed OKW ressies by a day or two up to 3 weeks prior to arrival without problems. Grand Villas and peak times would be an exception.

Thanks guys - Disney have confrimed that the refund for the Comtemporary will have to go back on the original credit card used to book and I will keep my fingers crossed for booking a studio at OKW sometime in February.
