Just bought DVC today !

Can anyone expand on this incentive? That seems like a huge incentive to me. Details, please!!!!!

From a post I read on the DVC board with a minimum of 50 pts at SSR there is an incentive discount of $10 per point and a minimum 100 pt AKV purchase has an incentive discount of $8 per point. There has also been a Developer Points Incentive - pay full price ($104) and get double the number of points you are buying as a one-time incentive. These points cannot be banked and must be used within 7 months.

AKV = $104 - $8 incentive = $96
SSR = $104 - $10 incentive = $94

You will find answers to all of your questions on the DVC board. Enjoy.:thumbsup2

DW and I really want to get on board with the DVC but we just can't make it work yet. Financially, we could do it but there are so many other things we want to do with our home right now and buying DVC points is below a few other things (deck, basement finishing, garage, DVC). We should have the first three done by next summer but we'll hopefully have a little one running around by then and more things will get put on the list above the DVC.

Congratulations though and I look forward to being able to join the club someday soon!!!!

I dont want to buy unless the onsite hotels at DL join then I will be the first to sign up! No financing. I will draw off the line of credit and pay cash.

I'll try but feel free to jump in anyone if I'm wrong --
SSR and AKV (Saratoga Springs Resort and Animal Kingdom Villas) are currently being sold by Disney)You must by in at a min 160 points. There is an incentive if you by of $10 off per point for SSR or $8 off per point for AKV. You can however choose to buy at either resort and purchase it without the lower price per point and get double developer points ---So if you bought a contract at AKV
1---your first year allotment would be 160 points--not sure what use year your thinking of
2---320 developer points --however the developer points must be used within a 12 month time period (it was 7 months but this just changed)
You can also buy into DVC by resale --at less points but all contract must make it through Disney's FROR --(First Right Of Refusal)
Hope this helps
Mel

So your first use year you would 320 points or 320 + the 160 you bought?

Your first UY (use year ) mine is Aug

I would have 160 2007 points (I would probably bank them over into the next year and use the developer points now )

I would get 320 developer points to use within the next 12 months --Developer points are not transferable or bankable --must be used or lost.

People were complaining they couldn't get a ressie within the 7 month time period so Disney up the time frame to 12 for use

You can book all three Disneyland hotels on points. The DLH is the best deal in terms of points. Since those stays tend to be shorter anyway I think it works out to a pretty good use of points.

So if you bank the 2007 points to 2008 you basically have 320 points to use by end of July 2008 and then 320 as of August 1, 2008. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Ok
here comes the tricky part that I just learned
I just found out that some 2006 points I am getting were transfered into 2007 so I thought well what good are they because I'd only have till the end of July 31 07 to use them right---NOT apparently when they were banked into 2007 they took on that use year so they are good until July 31 2008,,
Make sense ???

Ontfamily
just wanted to say congrats again and sorry for hijacking your welcome home thread --
Hugs Mel
P.S Mike head to the dvc board --people there alot more knowledgeable than me or start a new thread here on the Canadian site .

:cheer2: WELCOME HOME:cheer2: It was the best vacation investment we have ever made. We bought back in 2005 and our first trip home was to BWV and second was to SSR. Both were amazing. Going in Sept, just me and DH:thumbsup2 to SSR for our 15th anniversary and then again in March with the kids back to SSR.

We bought in 2005 as well and consider it a long term investment. Congratulations on your 15th anniversary, we are also going in September to celebrate our 15th ( with kids and 2 SIL's ), free onsite childcare:thumbsup2
Staying at SSR. Have good trip.

Welcome home ONT FAMILY from another Ontario Family:wave2:

Oh wow congratulations.

We want to buy into DVC, but we think we want BW its too expensive for us at the moment.

We want to immigrate to Canada so every penny is going on our wdw holiday and our Canada holiday next year as well as paying off some debts.

Congrats its so exciting. I wish we could take the plunge.

Welcome Home!!

We bought a small contract at OKW from TTS and it didn't take long before we bought an add-on through Disney at SSR. It is quite addicting. Best decision we ever made, it allows you and your family to take a vacation or two per year for many years without any regrets.

~Congrats~:goodvibes

OntFamily, Congratulations on your purchase!!

I just had an offer on a 175 SSR resale accepted today. Now, I have to wait seven weeks and through ROFR.:sad2: Oh well.

I am sure that you will enjoy your DVC for many, many years to come.

Congrats!

Our family of three is hoping to take the DVC plunge as well!

Hope to join you all soon!
