Hi all

We have just bought into DVC

Looking forward to reading about your uk experiences weve just come back from 3 weeks at POR and planning to go back in Oct 04 to home resort.

Does anyone have any good flight links only ever flown with virgin in a package

cheers

Congratulations! and ...
Welcome Home

Welcome home! I seem to remember you were weighing up the prospect of DVC versus a private villa. What made up your mind in the end?

For flights we tend to use a Virgin fly-drive package. If you buy car insurance separately via a Natwest credit card or other third-party such as http://www.insurance4carhire.com it can work out as a pretty good deal.

What date are you looking at in October - is it over the half-term period?

Hi Scousemouse

Congrats on your choice and " Welcome Home ".

Got to agree with expedia for prices, but also try www.bon-voyage.co.uk - got to take a car to get a good price, www.virgin-atlantic.com/home.view.do?flash=true themselves, because they sometimes have prices that beat everyone and one that we have used a couple of times and got great deals is www.virgintravelstore.com/home.asp.

To get the best deal with virgin travel store, phone them and ask for flights with added car hire rather than a flydrive. Seems to get a better price. You also get virgin miles :D

Thanks everyone

Peebee you have a good memory!

We have just come back from 3 weeks at POR and we visited about 14 Villas in Kissimmee with a Realtor agent

The property market is mad, people are buying properties unseen

the day they go on sale they are sold, a bit like the uk at the moment

What made my mind up was the quality of accomadation we wanted and saratoga and boardwalk were brilliant agiants a Villa of about $180,000 which although nice is a little bit similar to everyone elses! if you know what I mean.

We sat on a veranda in rocking chairs at BW enjoying the evening sun having a drink looking out over the resort and I knew we couldnt get that with a villa

Also ongoing costs against the one off payment of DVC

On site was fantastic and we dont wana stay off site again, weve done it before and it was great, but after being on site, we knew there was no other way.

the international gateway also gives us options.

We want to use some points in October and think WDW may be a bit far for just one week, so we are looking at Marbela or portugal.,

Has anyone been to Florida for just a week, is it worth it ?

Cant wait to get using the club, thanks for all your help,

See you alll soon

Thanks for explaining Scousemouse. I can certainly identify with that feeling of sitting in the chairs at the Boardwalk - we love grabbing breakfast from the BW bakery and sitting there first thing looking at on our 'back yard' :D

Had to reduce a two-week trip down to a week once due to work commitments and whilst we still had a good time i'd probably say we never really relaxed completely. If the circumstance ever arose again i'd probably try to put things back a month or two and go for a little longer.

One suggestion for you - the points, banking deadlines and booking windows can be a little confusing at first, so you mind find it useful to look at one of the DVC planning tools that get mentioned on the US boards. My favourite is Caskbill's DVC planner - you can download it from his website.

Congratulations and Welcome Home.

We made the same decision last year, DVC is a far better option than a Villa.

to Vera Beach,Hilton Head ,BWV,VWL all for a week in september in different years and enjoyed them all, adults only.

Yes, yes it's always worth it!!! :)

I spent a week at WDW in 1998 after a week in Georgia at my brother's wedding, we did stick to the Disney parks only but that was also due to my daughter being 2 and my parents being with us, we felt that staying onsite and using the transport would be the easiest option.

Given the choice of going for a week or not going, I know what I'd pick :)
