We had been playing with the idea of taking advantage of the promotion going on for SSR and took the plunge! We now own at the Boardwalk and SSR. :cool1:

After long discussions on points managing and all, we figured that we could swap resorts yearly, and now possibly, we'd have room for more friends. :teeth:

So, what can all of you SSR "neighbors" tell me about my "second home away from home"?

I'm very familiar with DTD, but have no idea what SSR is actually like. Is the spa opened? What about a pool...is it nice??? I wanna hear it all!!!!!!! ::yes::

Congrats!! I have yet to personally expirence but I hear the spa is the best on property.

Also the pool is very nice, we really enjoyed it.

Hi and congratulations!
20 days until we leave for SSR...we're so excited! I haven't even seen the resort yet, but I've heard the rooms described as comfortable and elegant. I also love the idea of a peaceful, country feel. Hope they get some horses for us to ride some day!

The kids and I have gone online looking at photos, and the main pool looks like a lot of fun. I can sit in the zero-entry end with the 18-month-old, while the three older kids enjoy the two slides. From everything we could see in the photos, the decor looks lovely.

I called the resort earlier tonight with some questions, and the woman I spoke with was wonderfully helpful. I was happy to learn that I can have some groceries held for us until we arrive later in the evening.

We're looking forward to walking to Downtown Disney...I'm hoping to try the new Irish pub (Raglan Row?). Most recent reviews that I've read describe the bus service as comparable to that of other resorts. But one of the best parts of being a DVC member is knowing that we'll have lots of trips to WDW, so we don't have to frantically try to pack everything into this trip. We'll have many more opportunities.

Have fun planning your first trip to SSR!

Thanks all for the "Welcome". I'm really looking forward to this trip because it will be just DH and I. Our son wants to get a summer job and to be quite honest, I think he's outgrown WDW. :earseek: He's only 16 but he's not the "disney fanatic" in the family; I am.

One of the things DH and I were talking about is the closeness to DTD. All those great restaurants and shops!! :cool1:

Well time to get ready for work. Thanks again and if anyone has any special tips please pass them on.

My sister has stayed there and we will be soon. She liked it and said the spa is open. Also, you really need to go to DD to have a sitdown meal. There is no full service restaurant yet. She says it is more quiet than the Beach club where she usually goes, more like OKW. She says the pool is very nice, but she is spoiled with SAB.

Goodluck and congratulations neighbor!

I think SSR is an excellent place for an adults-only trip. It was for us. There's short walkways to DTD on either end of the property. One end has a walkway to Westside, the other has a walkway to the Marketplace. We made several trips to DTD, all on foot.

Raglan Road opened in DTD recently, and it's a terrific place. It's a huge Irish pub (actually more of a nightclub). The food's supposed to be very good, although we didn't eat there. I can vouch for the quality of the Guinness, though. They have live Irish music in the evening, and there's a small stage in the middle of the main room where a woman dances along with the music. We had a great time there.

And we both highly recommend the spa. It's the best on property.
