Just bought a DVC resale

Hi everyone, we have just bought into DVC (240pts at OKW) with a use year of December.

Actually, we just sent the check today with the closing paperwork...was wondering when we would be able to book our first trip home? Do we have to wait to recieve a pack from DVC or will we be in their system after the closing? The reason is we would love to go sometime in December but wanted to see if that is going to be feasible or not...I know the length of time varies from person to person, but any opinions would be great!

Once you close it should go pretty quickly. I would check with your closing company to see how fast they have been going through recently.

Someone just mentioned that they got an 8 day ressie, waitlisting for all of it, but it came through. They are going over the tough Christmas time, and they began their waitlist at the end of Sept.

You best check with your resale company to find out your chances.

Just FYI I was able to book the week before Christmas earlier this week. (studio) Dec 18-23 all nights were available.

You can also go the waitlist route - the waitlist fairy has been very kind to me so far this year.

You can make reservations as soon as you are in the DVC system.

Congratulations! I bought a resale towards the end of the summer. At that time it was taking 7-10 days after closing to get into DVC's system. Once you are notified that you have closed, ask your resale agent for updated info on how long it is taking to get into the system.

Getting something for this December will be a challenge since it's one of the most popular times of year for DVC but it's certainly worth a try. Others here on the boards have been successful. Best of luck!!

Congratulations and Welcome home! We also bought a DVC resale (at VWL) and it was the best thing we ever did. We stayed at a grand villa at OKW and it was beautiful. have fun!
