We've booked a relatively last minute trip today and found out we need to do our FP+ selections tonight. I'm still trying to figure out what park we're going to on which day. 4 days from Aug 24 to 27th. FAmily of 3 with DD12 who's not a thrill rider.

From what I've read you can't get FP+ for two different parks. What's the point of park hopping then? I'm hoping I'm wrong.... I'll check that out more carefully after I get this post out.

By using crowd calendar, looks like my best bet days are: I do like using touring plans.

Monday - Should start trip with MK, right? It's an "8" crowd on that day though
Try tonight for FPs for Anna and Elsa. Peter Pan's Flight and Seven Dwarf's Mine Train

Tuesday - Epcot is EMH; go straight to Character spot and then Test Track upon opening
FP+ Soarin. The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

Wednesday - AK is early opening; will probably only be there for 1/2 day and then head over to Hollywood Studios; but that's a late night there so it will be more crowded!
FPs for Hollywood Studios: Toy Story Mania, Frozen Sing Along Celebration,

Thursday - MK opens early; do dumbo, tomorrowland speedway
FP for Enchanted Tales with Belle, Buzz Lightyear, Splash Mountain

I hope this makes sense! Going on You Tube now to see how the FP+ system works. I went to Disneyland last summer and it was so less stressful. Went to WDW in 2012 before FP+ and followed pans and worked fine. Now, I feel totally lost.

Thanks for any help.

We just left WDW this morning and this was 2nd trip with FP+. So far it's worked great for us both trips. All of your plans look good, except you may not need FPs for Tales w/Belle, Buzz, or Nemo depending on the time of day.Tales with Belle had short wait times this trip for some reason (usually 20). Last year average was 40-60 minutes. Based on my recent experience, I would highly suggest you add Great Movie Ride or Star Tours at DHS and Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. Basically the only rides that a FP is really needed at EPCOT is TT, Sorarin, Spaceship Earth., and sometimes Mission Space. Unfortunately it's tiered, so after u pick a major one, all that's left are rides that are usually short waits anyhow. As far as park hopping, you would schedule your first three FPs on the early side at one park, then once you use them you can get extras at the other park one at a time when u get there. For the extras, you'll have to use the FP kiosks at the park to schedule them, but u can use your phone to make changes after.

I will suggest to get Elsa & Anna, 7DMT and any one of the parades for all the MK days tonight. Those are the hottest FP+'s. After you have time to figure out your touring plan, then make changes as needed. You may be surprised to see how late the time for E&A M&G--and need to adjust the plan accordingly.

Thanks for your reply. It would be hard to convince my DD12 to part with Toy Story Mania since that's a tiered thing. She is not interested in Space Ship Earth or Mission Space. Epcot is looking like a half day. I just made a lunch reservation for Akerhaus Royal Banquet for the Epcot day. We're going to begin our Monday morning with breakfast at 8:45 at Be Our Guest. That's a new one for us. Slim pickings during the week we're there. So, I now know to hopefully get our FP+s beginning at 10:00 or 10:30. Wednesday is shaping up for a AK morning and then lunch at Hollywood Studios Mama Melrose's at 1:20 for the Fantamic 1st show. So those FP+ will need to be after lunch. Feeling calmer now.... Thanks for your help.

I didn't realize we needed FPs for the parades.... I was thinking of doing the parade on our last day which has a lower crowd level. Monday is an 8 but Thursday is a 5. With lower crowds, I was thinking that would be the day to catch the 3:00 parade. We're usually not in the parks at night since I've always gotten everyone up for rope drops I've never seen the electrical parade so that would be good for Thursday since we have a sleep in morning on Friday before taking the 3 day cruise.

You cannot split up the 3 FP+ at two different parks. You can do rope drop at the first park and then use your 3 FP+ at the second park.

I wouldn't think you would need to do Character Spot first, at Epcot. I would do Test Track or Soarin' first and do rope drop for the other. I would try for the FP+ for Soarin'. Since TT also has a single rider line. Since you didn't list a 3rd FP+, you could use it for the character spot, I suppose, but it may not be needed there, either. I would look at Mesaboy's FP+ thread for how to prioritize, if you haven't yet. Kind of annoying that Epcot has the tiers.

You also didn't list a 3rd FP for Hollywood Studios.

Don't feel lost, there's plenty of help here. Also, you may just want to look at easywdw plans, or touring plans ready made plans, they have late day arrival park plans and one day park plans that might be useful for you.

M&G means Meet and Greet. Everyone on here abbreviates everything. It takes getting used to! :D I was lost at first. Lol

I'm not even sure DD12 will go on Test Track but I'm hoping to convince her. She won't be ok as a single rider. I do have Mesaboy's thread printed out. I read something on touringplans about fastpassing Soarin instead of Test Track. OH, didn't see the missing FP at DHS. I guess I'd add Voyage of the Little Mermaid. DD12 isn't a roller coaster fan. The tiered system makes DHS a little trickier since Toy Story Mania is a must.

Is booking a 8:45 breakfast at Be Our Guest a bad move time wise? MK opens at 9 that day and it will be crowded. Going twice that week and the second time would be an early opening day and less crowded. Really wanted to try the restaurant and hoping to just get the later FP times tonight.

I didn't realize we needed FPs for the parades.

You don't need a FP+ for parades. The FP+ is for the reserved areas on the Main St. The FP+ is limited and is usually gone among with Elsa & Anna whenever I check FP+ availability at the 30 days mark with my old tickets. You don't need to book it but it may be better to book it tonight when the window opens and cancelled once your plan is more concrete.

Josh's crowd calendar on easywdw .com is great. His website also has cheat sheets for the parks which are very helpful.

You don't need a FP for any parade (there are plenty of viewing spots)...I think that poster was recommending picking up FP+s for each day of your trip for a parade, Anna & Elsa, and the 7 Dwarfs Mine Train for each day of your trip tonight because those are really the only FP+s that "sell out" well in advance. After you've had a couple of days to get things a little more settled in your mind, and after you're sure of which days you want to do which parks, you can then go in and drop the MK FP+s for the days you won't be in that park and reserve the FP+s that you do want. The FP+s at the other parks--including the TSM FP+s--will be plentiful until at least a week before your trip. A&E and 7DMT are really the only two things that you really have to worry about booking at 60 days. Nothing else is going to be in short supply. You just seem a little stressed right now, so we're just recommending that you only book those FP+s that are time sensitive tonight--i.e., A&E and 7DMT.

I didn't realize we needed FPs for the parades.....
I don't consider them worth the FP. I think it would be better put towards a ride that you would all really love to go on, that often has long waits. The parade is open to everyone, and it's not hard to get a spot :)

EDIT: Agree with PP above. Definitely just focus on the hard FP's for now, and all the others can be adjusted as you go. So far, only 7DMT, A&E, and the parades are quick to go.

If you can't score a lunch or dinner BOG, then you have no choice but to do breakfast with a princess in your family. Totally understand with 2 princesses in my family.
It is ok to book both days and drop one after you figure out later. If you want to have a 8am reservation before the park opening, just keep trying. I forgot about the BOG breakfast until a day after the ADR opening and got a 8:45am ADR last Friday. When I tried again yesterday, I've got a 8:15 ADR.

Well..... I was going to say something about that, and decided not to. If you want to get as many rides in as you can, then I would not do BOG at 8:45, because you will be missing out on prime rope drop time, and you really don't have a lot of time in the parks. If you are ok with that and feel that BOG is a priority for for family, then do it. But I would definitely have the other day as a rope drop day to get some good rides in with lower wait times. I would also keep trying to find an earlier time than 8:45. Also, hope that they don't change the park open time to 8am or anything.

Ok. So, I will focus first on the hard to get ones. I'm already up passed my bedtime to get Anna and Elsa. We saw them at Disneyland last summer so I can't believe I'm doing this again!!! I tried to point out to DD12 that she will see them one at a time and it didn't matter. I've never seen the electrical parade but don't want to tie up not being able to get other FP+ all day long. I'll keep trying for the earlier breakfast for even lunch. Great idea!

Thanks, everyone! I just got BOG for Thursday lunch at 2:30. Not a great time but I will keep trying that one as well and see if a better time pops up. We are going on the 3 day cruise after our stay at WDW so I don't want to go crazy with dining reservations. Have a lunch reservation for Fantasmic on Wednesday.

You can always try and watch the parades from Fronteirland. Less crowded than Main Street.

SUCCESS! I actually did my FPs for all 4 days. Almost made a huge mistake!! Started to log off and then decided that I wanted to print out my FPs. When I saw my list, realized that I had done a FP for the Meet with Cinderella and Rapunzel on our first WDW day. Was only picking A&E for one day. I changed a FP for our last day and was able to get A&E for Thurs night between 6:50 and 7:50 which is perfect. It will force me to be there for the electrical parade!! I was able to adjust times for after my lunch plans for other FPs. Thanks for all of your help!! I was soooo stressed about this. I kept Cinderella since it will be great to see Cinderella early in our stay. To swap out A&E there would was very late on our first night from 8:50 to 9:50.
