Just booked the Disneyland hotel! A couple of questions

Hi all-

I just booked 4 nights with the summer promotional rate at the Disneyland Hotel for our upcoming August trip. It was only $200 more than the rate at the Embassy Suites Garden Grove, which is where we usually stay, so it seemed like a good deal.

A couple of questions-

1. We have a standard room with two queen beds - is there a certain tower that we should request to make sure we get a refurbished room?

2. We haven't gotten our park tickets yet but I was wondering how MM works for those staying onsite (it's our first time!)

Any other perks about staying on-property that I should know or get excited about?

Thanks!

I really cant answer your new questions but we have stayed onsite at DLH or GCH everysingle time we go between 3-4 times a year. The shortbread cookies and chocolates they put in your room are amazing. There is two shops downstairs. One smaller one and one large one. Goofys kitchen is downstairs, and next to it there is a small cafe. The monorail leaves right next to the hotel in the morning and is fantastic when you dont want to walk late at night or early in the am. You picked a fantastic hotel!

I *think* that they are working on the Dreams Tower right now, but they have very few standard rooms because the tower is facing the pool and DTD.

You just show your room key at the gates to get your MM.

I don't know of any other 'perks' but it is an atmosphere that you will never forget! This is my absolute favorite Disney hotel.

Have fun :)

Did you stay concierge to get the cookies?

The chocolates are GCH only, as far as I know...

When you check in, OP, you'll be given a sheet of paper with info about the resort, and unless something huge has changed, that paper will include the info about the Magic Mornings. If you get a good CM, s/he will write the days of your stay that you can take part. You'll of course need admission, but it still does seem to be that you can take part in every MM during your stay, including the day of checkout if it's a MM day.

If you are arriving in the earlyearly morning on a MM day, check in fast, stash your luggage with Bell Services, and get over to the park! :)

We got them at PP too. They even had different characters than the ones at GCH.

I was completely stunned about that because we definitely did not get them at DLH. Seeing we also got Mickey Rice Crispies for free the first night I have been wondering if PP upgraded us to Concierge and no one told us. ;)

Thanks for all of the answers! I've wanted to stay at the DLH since I was a little girl but it was always out of our price range. I'm just giddy to finally be able to do more than walk around the grounds and dream!

I love the DL hotel! as a PP mentioned, you will get a printout at checkin with information about the MM and also park hours for your stay. There are a few things I believe all DLR hotel guests can do beyond just the MM every morning it is offered. These include Build a Bear event 1 hr prior to opening on select mornings (purchase required), a Sephora event, and I think Disney 365 now has a special offering for DLR hotel guests.

When making a request, if you are booking a standard room, you can still request the Dreams tower (where the renovated rooms are) but there are not as many standard rooms in this tower so the next best, in my opinion, is the Magic/ Marina tower. This is the main tower, where you check in and I feel more connected to the hotel when I stay in this tower. I also like getting off the elevator and being right across from the hotel gift shop and guest services desk. They recently added free coffee in the lobby (not sure if this is still going on) so that was also easily accessible through this tower.

The 3rd tower, Bonita was the old name, not sure new one, is farthest back. Some people like this and it is next to the very peaceful waterfalls that so many never even see when they stay here but that is my least favorite tower as I feel detached from the action and with 3 kids, peace and quiet is never going to happen for us anyway.

If you need an extra sleeping space, be sure to request the 2 queens with daybed. The daybed is not a seperate booking category and my understanding is that preference for those rooms are given to larger families but if you get one of these rooms, you are guaranteed a decent sized room. The DLH is a bit funny in that the room sizes really do vary a bit and there are a few 2Q rooms I have seen that are a little too cozy for my taste. They are also very accommodating though as we were once placed in one of these smaller rooms and when we called down to ask for a different room, they happily accommodated us.

It also doesn't hurt to be super sweet at check in and ask if there are any upgrades available. We have paid for a standard view the last few times and gotten pool view upgrades for free just by asking.

Have a great trip!

Great information! I'm so excited and I've still got 5 months to go!

Is there a specific number I should call for room requests or is (714) 520-5060 the correct number? I think either a king/daybed room or 2 queens/daybed room would work best for us!

Thanks again!
