Hi,
Just booked my air for april.....

$1307.40 for 3 of us:scared1:  ......

I can't win....figured it would be a cheap trip...
I have AP's and staying on DVC points....

I guess when the kids are out of school....just hand over
the wallet:sad2:
Just venting.

Keep an eye out for sales and dings. You might be able to bring that down as you get closer.

Wow.
Did you try playing with your dates a bit? Tix were almost 200 ow for our preferred dates, but 99 if we go Monday-Monday. So that's what we did. One kid misses one day of school.

And I will quit complaining to DH about how much we paid. But I will admit I've been spoiled with DING's lately so it was hard to pay even that.

Keep checking back is right! (especially for ISP)

I booked in October for our Jan trip on SWA. Over the course of a month and a half, the price dropped $110 PER RT ticket. We are flying during a relatively "busy time" as well (Jan 2nd and 7th).

Don't know what your dates are in April, but I picked a random week and got a total for 3 for $644 on Southwest. Are your dates flexible???

keep an eye on your flights, I booked about 6 weeks ago for Jan and 2 times it went down. Today I got real lucky for when I checked the early flight that we had wanted went down in price and I got it!!

Problem is schools are closed here the week of 4-20...

the airfare is even more for the weekend .....or sold out:scared1:

I'm taking DD out of school for 2 days and leaving tThurs 4-17....

I'm returning thurs 4-24....

After that on the weekend again....even worse or sold out:headache:

I do always check....and most times they do go down....

I think that I will be finding out that the fares DON'T go down
anywhere near when the kids are out of school.:sad2:

It wouldn't bother me to book an evening flight to MCO on Wednesday evening, and Priceline an airport hotel for maybe $50, get up in the morning and head over to DME. Give them the earliest flight that SW gets into MCO on and head over to OKW or wherever. I would book the 640AM departure out of MCO and get home early. That drops your total to $714, plus the $50 or so for the airport hotel.

That being said, there will probably be some sales and DING!s so just keep an eye out. Good luck.

That is exactly why we are not going to take our April trip this year. We were going to drive, so I didn't book flights way early like I always do and now they are $440/person. Decided to wait until school was out.

I called member services and cancelled our DVC reservation for the week. We too have AP's but I couldn't see paying that for airfare. We are going in February, so it won't be too long to wait for July. I booked $198/person for July 8-15. So much better!

Good idea....I wouldn't want to get up at like 3am to get that 1st flight though.

I did check for that last flight the night before.....99 instead of 226....
much better...but we won't have a car...and the hyatt at the airport
is 259 a night....

we would still save a few hundred....but by the time we eat and
drink when we get there....savings won't be much.
Gonna have to suffer with this one:headache:
thanks

I hate to say it but you waited to long. I booked the minute it came out on Nov 8th and got $285 rt pp leaving 4/18 and returning 4/26. It was my first time booking with them and I was amazed how fast everything sold out. Jet Blue's fare were $698 rt pp for basically the same day and time and they usually have good fares so then again I'm not too surprised.

Going in June on DVC points. Cheapest I could find out of Albany was just under 1k for 3 of us. Waiting for SW to release new dates, then will book whatever is cheapest at that point. Prefer SW because they seldom change flight times- Delta drives me crazy with time changes.

We are flying SW into ft. myers in Feb around pres. week because the rates were so high, i jumped got them $49.00 and we will have a car so it's no big deal to drive...

this is last minute......so it does make me feel better that when I can
plan better....i could get a much better deal....even though the kids
are out of school.

I so love southwest....time changes would drive me crazy....

also have macarthur airport 5 min from my house makes it a no brainer.....

After I booked this flight I did check jetblue this morning and it was only
like 10 bucks cheaper......it would have to be 1/2 price to want to
go to kennedy airport.

We were able to save $300.00 by flying out the night before we wanted to go, even with the hotel cost. It's worth the try to look!

Does it have to be the Hyatt? :confused3
We've gotten great deals on Hotwire when we just need 1 night near the airport. There's a 2.5* (like a Fairfield Inn, Clarion or Amerisuites) or a 3* (like the Marriott or Wingate Inn)
For your date, they have a 2.5* for $59 and a 3* for $99
They both have airport shuttles and the 2.5* offers free cont. breakfast too.
Not luxurious but decent for a clean place to sleep and shower.
We prefer to not get up so early to fly too so we fly down at night after dinner. The kids are better night owls than early birds.

Interesting.....I was thinking the hyatt....only because I didn't have a
car....if they have a shuttle that would work.
Might have to work the numbers again.

Well,,I am in the same boat...originally airfare was very high for our dates so I decided not to book-then DH decides we (make that me, because he works 2 jobs) will drive to WDW...:rotfl: So, I don't book airfare...in thinking of it, I am totally booking and trying to work it out with the dates and looking into different airports etc..I found airfare for the 4 of us around what you're paying...but believe me I will be keeping my eye out for dings and lower fares...

Don't feel bad-it will work out!
