I just booked 4 nights at RPR for July 2007 for part of my honeymoon and am so excited! We got a great AAA rate, and so am doing the happy dance :woohoo: . Does anyone have any tips for this hotel? Good location to ask for, where to eat etc.? We booked a standard king room, but had them note that it was our Honeymoon on the ressies, do you think there is any chance for a complimentary upgrade? :goodvibes Thanks!

If you enjoy sushi you will enjoy the new sushi bar in the lounge. We reclined on sofas and had it served to us.

congrats!

I'm by no means an expert on Universal or Loews...hopefully someone else will jump in & explain things better but, if you aren't already, sign up for Loews membership, then have it applied to your ressie (AAA is a "qualifying" rate).

you get goodies (see site for all the choices) and an upgrade, if available.

Thanks for the tip Keishashadow! Do you know if the Loews card costs anything? Is it a credit card type thing or a membership thing? Thanks! :sunny:

Loews First membership is free to join (join at loew's website) and doesn't cost anything. You get lots of free upgrades and perks (explained at site). At RPR, Loews first members have their own check-in line (all the way to the far end) so, you will certainly have a shorter line than the stand-by checkin line...a nice surprise for my DH!) There is a thread with what rooms to request. Tower 2 is for pets....may not be too romantic to hear puppies if you happen to! Tower 3 is furthest from walking path and Tower 1 is closest (and if you plan right, can get a great view of IOA)...if you can't find the thread, just let us know....we'll link ya! Oh, and congrats on the pending nups!

Congratulations! As the others have mentioned, sign up for loewsfirst as AAA already qualifies for bennies: http://www.loews-first.com/Loewsfirst.asp

As long as the hotel is not full, you should be able to score a water view room upgrade from a std room. Note, however, that many prefer a std view in Tower 1 as you can get a theme park view.

I don't want to get your hopes up, as I too spent my honeymoon at RPR. We had it noted in our ressie as well. We booked Club level which has a varying room view, and we were treated to a view of I4 and we were Loews Gold at the time. I truly wish you more luck than us! :)

Thank you all so much for your help! I just signed up to be a Loews member and am now even more excited! :cool1: Milk and cookies, yummmm :rotfl:

Luxury Guide said ALL the Club Level rooms were non-park/non-pool; which is why we skipped it & booked a standard:confused3 .
What is the varying room view?

Sorry, whatever you read is false. :( RPR Club is on the 7th floor of Tower 3. About 1/3 of the rooms overlook the pool (and in some you can see both IOA and the pool). Another 1/3 overlook the Luau area/I4, and the other 1/3 have a stinker view of I4 only. You can request a pool view, but it is not guaranteed, and the pool view rooms on club cost the same as I4 views. It's luck of the draw, I suppose.

don't know why I put such stock in the guidebooks (2006 version too), you'd think they'd get that little detail correct.

The club level rooms priced out in the same ballpark as GV @ HRH for June, great price for concierge level of service. The same guide (lol) indicated that they have "real food" appetizers & samples of entrees @ dinner hours, followed by dessert offerings. Is this true?

I just got done adding a request for the much rec. room 1733:thumbsup2 to our ressie, hope we get a goodie:banana: . How incredibly cool to be able to look out @ the Hulk?

Thanks for the tip. Is 1733 a king bed room? If not do you know of any Tower 1 rooms w/theme park views that have King Beds? Thanks in advance! :sunny:

we were in 1729 which was 2 doors down from 1733 w/ view of IOA. We had 2 queen beds in our room.....dunno if that's much help or not?
