We just booked our next Disney Vacation at Port Orleans - Riverside in Sept. I know, I know, "Its hurricane season!!!!!" But the price was about half of what we paid last year in April. I guess we are gamblers at heart. Can't wait. We are going to have to try and not wish the summer away now.

We seem to be in the same boat, we're headed back after Thanksgiving and I can't wait for spring and to see the trees bloom but then we have a reservation for fall and I blow thru summer wanting to be in WDW. As for hurricanes, we've done 43 trips so far, most late summer early fall and only ran into 2 but they didn't disrupt our trip, have a good time and enjoy rhe magic.

We booked POR for mid August. We were worried about hurricane season too but saved a bundle. We will keep our fingers crossed I guess. As for the waiting the only thing the quenches the thirst for Disney is these boards. I will be so prepared and planned for our trip. I just hope i am not overplanned.

:cool1:

We are also booked for POR in September. I was in WDW when Hurricane Katrina was developing. It first appeared to be heading toward central Florida and then moved to New Orleans. We had some rain showers in WDW but it kept the crowds away. :)

You can never be over planned! I have everything planned to the minute, then the kids try to change things up. Oh well, it keeps me young!:wizard:

September must be a good month for Disney, just booked our trip for POR. Must admit, wish I didn't see this thread though, to be honest, didn't even think about hurricanes!!!...now I think I will get the travel insurance!!! This will be our first time at Riverside, The resort looks great, We usually do not spend much time at the resorts, but there seems to be alot to do here. Now I will have to try and go against every bone in body and not spend every minute (not asleep) at the parks and enjoy some time at the resort. "Disney, we're coming home!!!"

We've been to POR twice and are returning there in 2 weeks. You will love it. Ans as far as hurricanes go, I'd just make sure I had vacation insurance. ;)

We're going to POR in two weeks as well. It's our first time there, and I'm also going to try and build in a little resort time. Our kids are 8, 6 and 2 1/2...so I'm feeling like we'll need to rest with the toddler,(it's his first time) even though we want to be park commandos :dance3:
BTW, love this site :)

The chances are extremely remote that a hurricane will ruin your vacation so stop worrying! Although I admit I watched the Weather Channel religiously for about a month before our Sept. trip last year (gotta keep an eye on that west coast of Africa...) We had one morning of rain and that was fabulous since everyone else avoided the parks while we just threw on our ponchos and ran with it.
Anyway, you'll love POR. Make some time to take the free boat ride to Downtown Disney - it's a lot of fun. You can also go over to the pool at POFQ - it's got a really cool serpent slide that kids love.
As for trip insurance, make sure you know exactly what it does and doesn't cover. We got ours through AAA and they said it didn't cover hurricanes!

We just returned today from a week at POFQ!!!!!! What a great time we had...we were in room 2137 which was directly across from pool and halfway from boat or main building! Not a better room to be found in my opinion!!! Really loved all the things there (and we were surprised as we have always stayed at AKL). Loved the food (Which had more variety than AKL) and LOVED LOVED LOVED the pool and serpent slide (my kids went down prob 100 times atleast). After a few hours at the park they would be begging to go back to hotel to go swimming....we spent more time in the pool this year than ever before. THe boat transportation was great...ate at both POR and POFQ as well as Boatwrights. Did the carriage ride and the surrey bikes (those are soooo fun!!! The kids would be ringing the bell like mad, telling everyone we really had no idea what we were doing). The hotel was really close to everything...and we think we would return there over AKL (gasp!!!)!!!!

We booked POR for a quick trip at the end of October. I was little bummed because POFQ was not available.

About room 2137... it sounds like a great room location, just one question. how close to any parking was it?

We'll be staying at POR in September, too - I'm a little worried about hurricanes just because I seem to have terrible luck like that, but I think I'll just buy trip insurance and hope for the best!

Just spoke to my travel agent (again - just to be sure) and she said most insurance does not cover against Hurricanes. A lot of airlines will do their best for you if a Hurricane interferes with plans, but insurance will not cover costs for Hurricanes.

We have to just run with it and hope for the best – that was why we got the good deal!:cheer2:

Congrats!! We are staying at POR also and love it there! But aw heck, we are going at the end of August and actually prefer that time. Will cross our fingers for everyone that goes in August and September that all will be clear!

I'm travel the end of Sept too. :cool1: When I book my reservation with Disney the Customer Service Agent told me that their insurance would cover hurricane just in case it happen. He assure me since Orlando is more in land I wont be affect that much maybe slight shower. Let hope so.. I'm taking my chances..
