Hi everyone!

I just booked the Polynesian for our stay at WDW after our Disney cruise. We'll be in a lagoon view room, and now I'm wondering which building to request. (Yes, I know these are only requests, not guarantees). My husband is diabetic and needs to eat regularly so we'd want to be somewhat close to the GCH, but not necessarily right next to it, just don't want to be really far from it, for example I think the Tahiti building would be a bit far. We'd like a building with a good view of the lagoon. Any suggestions??? :sunny: Thanks!

Basicly, you can choose from Tuvalu, Tokelau, or Tahiti. In Tokelau, I think there are 2 or 4 rooms that are lagoon view, and I wouldn't pay the lagoon price for these rooms unless they were the only rooms left. Their balcony doors do not directly face the Magic Kingdom, it's a sideways view. I'd personally take Tahiti, but Tuvalu would probably be fine for you (first floor has a patio, second has a railing, third has a balcony). Tahiti has first floor patios, and balconies on the second and third floors. :)

Cali is right about the 4 in Tokelau. I would say they are great rooms but not worth the lagoon view price in my opinion. And they are about as far out as some of the Tahiti rooms anyway. That leaves you with the north side of Tuvalu and about half the rooms on the north side of Aotearoa. Now I have stayed in the Tuvalu rooms and the view is nice and the location is private since there is nothing but a small strip of garden area and than water in front of you but if you want a beach in front of your view than the rooms in Aotearoa would be better. The views are very close to the same with Tuvalu being a little closer to the MK but also remember that the 3rd floor with the balcony in Tuvalu is smoking. Aotearoa is all non-smoking. Either one is a short walk to the GCH.

Aloha

Steve

Thanks so much, to both of you, the two top Disney Resort Experts!! :wave2: :sunny:

Can either of you tell me what you see from the balconies when you look straight out from Tuvalu and from Tahiti?? I realize that Tuvalu is closer to the GCH, but if the view is a lot better in Tahiti, we'd request that. I know they both face towards the Magic Kingdom, but with the island there, I'm not sure what you'd see from these buildings. Do either of these have views of the castle?? Thanks again! :)

Edited to add: I just checked out Tikiman's web site which shows the views from Tahiti. Very nice! So now I'm just wondering about the lagoon view from Tuvalu. :) I also like the fact that both second and third floor rooms in Tahiti have balconies. We definitely want a balcony.

I'm pretty sure you can see the castle from Tuvalu. I'd also bet you would loose some of the view of the lagoon to the island, since it's basicly straight infront of you. Tikiman can let you know for sure. :)

Cali,

Thanks for the pic. I am not sure what is going on over there. There is no major work scheduled but there may just be some maintenance going on. This is usually a good time for them to do stuff.

SeaSpray,

The view from all 3 buildings are of the castle and just like the rooms in Hawaii some views have some trees in them. The Island does not block the castle or fireworks from Tuvalu but you can not see over to the boat docks at the MK because of the island. The MK is partly blocked in the ground level rooms on the east end of Tahiti since the trees have grown but the rest of the rooms on upper floors and on the west end are fine. I do not have a shot of the castle from Tuvalu but I do have it from Aotearoa and it is very similar.

Wow, Tikiman, that view is quite nice!!! I think we will request Tuvalu! I'd rather be down that end of the resort since we have no plans to use TTC for this trip. Thanks so much for all your help, and for that picture!! :sunny:

Tikiman, I completely forgot about those LV rooms in Aortearoa. BTW, is Tahiti going under any renovations right now? I was at WDW last week, and noticed it has a green roof on part of the building. Know anything about it? Here is a picture: http://community.webshots.com/photo/101137709/113225241BeMONY

The roof is being repainted, the green is the primer and then the orginial color will be painted over that.

WOW Tikiman-When I saw that pic my heart sank! It was exactly what I imagined it would be like at the poly. We have a LV booked for May 17-21 and I requested the Tahiti rooms. Are these the best in your opinion for a view of the castle? I am so excited especially since I saw that beautiful picture! Ever since I saw the WISHES at the MK in Nov '03, I have been dreaming of staying at the Poly and watching them everynight! Thanks Tikiman, you made my day!YEA

I just got back from a stay in Tahiti over MLK weekend; they were painting the roof then. On the Monday we left, they had just blocked off the Rarotonga building, and were pulling all the furniture out for renovation.
I had a 1st floor room in Tahiti, 1018, and it had a great view of the MK.

gallaj0, Did you happen to notice if they are working on Nuie also? We are thinking of requesting Samoa for our up-coming trip, but I don't want to walk by construction everyday! We may end up requesting Fiji instead(GV)! Or, any advise for a good GV building???? We are leaving soon and I am still un-decided! Thanks!:bounce:

They were still in Niue, but they may have been finishing up; I didn't see much of anything going on at that longhouse. It seemed they were working on paint/wallpaper, there were no carpets down yet.
