please convince me that we did the right thing by booking concierge vs a regular garden view room. please tell me your experience at poly in their concierge building and also submit remarks about their food offerings as well and if you would do it again. please convince me!!! :earsboy:

I haven't stayed at the Polynesian YET, but we are booked to stay there in July. When I made the reservations there was NO availability in the concierge building so I booked a garden view room, and I'm hoping something in concierge will open up.

DH is diabetic and DS13 has a chronic hip problem, so being in the concierge building has many advantages to us. Here are the reasons why we'd prefer to stay in concierge instead of a regular garden view room:

1. Location! I think the Hawaii building is in the perfect spot. Also, I am a planning/control type person so knowing from the start which building we'll be in is a big thing to me. Right now, I have no idea which building we'll end up in, if we can't get concierge. This drives me nuts, I hate leaving things to "chance". lol I know that most of the garden views are VERY nice but a couple of them have parking lot views and I will not be happy with that.

2. Pre-planning assistance. Since we'll be there during a very busy week I'll need to make a ton of Priority Seatings, so it'd be nice to email a list of what we want to someone, and let them make the calls for me. I also will want some special requests to surprise DH with for our anniversary, and this is something they could help me with, too.

3. Snacks and drinks. We have 2 teenaged DSs and I know they'll appreciate the availability of soda, spring water, and snacks through the day. DH and I will appreciate the cordials at night. :earboy2:

Our family of 5 has stayed at the Polynesian 3 times. Once in a Garden View and twice in Concierge. I would have to say that if you are a family of 4 or more, conciege is well worth it (and not just for the food). It was very relaxing for me to know that all of our PSs would be taken care of. I also enjoyed knowing which longhouse we would be in. Check-in was very smooth and the CMs were very helpful. We did get tired of the same thing for breakfast every morning but we also would pick several days to have a "sit down" breakfast at the parks. I would also say that concierge is worth it if you plan on spending at least some time at the resort. If you are doing parks from sunup to sundown go with the garden view so you don't feel you are missing out on some of the benefits of the concierge lounge.

That all being said, I was very surprised by my kids on our last trip. I booked a Lagoon View Concierge room hoping for a beautiful view of the castle to surprise my family. They were surprised, the only problem was that the hedge outside our 1st floor room was so high you could not see the castle when you sat down on the patio. So much for enjoying my view at night when the kids went to bed! We added an extra day on to our trip because of the hurricanes last Sept. but we had to move to a garden view room for the night. Imagine my surprise when my kids informed me that the 3rd floor room in Samoa facing the volcano pool was FANTASTIC!!! :confused3

We have stayed Polynesian concierge, garden view twice and love it. I think next time, I am going to try to go lagoon view concierge-but I'll watch out for room with the hedge blocking the view that the poster mentioned-thanks for the tip.

We loved using the lounge for snacks and must admit that often we preferred Chef Dick's dinner snack over what we bought at a restaurant.

It was also nice on the last day, after checkout to have access to the lounge still including the large bathroom to freshen up in.

Lisa from NJ, I am also from NJ-do you fly or drive? :flower:

goofyand more - With 5 of us the deal is if we want to stay in the park - we drive. We definitely could not do 5 airfares and stay concierge. We have driven 4 times and my 3 kids are great car travelers. If fact the last time we stayed concierge a father was in the lounge with his 3 kids also from NJ. He couldn't believe that we would drive. His kids were running wild through the concierge lounge and I thought to myself that I wouldn't drive either if I was in a car with them! :earseek:

I have a very good friend who lives in Montville. Feel free to PM me if you want - don't want to get too off topic here.
