Hi,
Added on this week and booked a last minute trip to OKW in april:cool1:

My DD is off from school that week so I am so happy that there was
availability....
Only SSR was available for a studio.....I really wanted to try someplace new,
so I was thrilled when they said they had a 1BR at OKW.

Is the main pool close to the food court? What do they have?
How is Community hall? Is it very similiar to the one at SSR?
Any areas I should avoid?

What is your favorite thing about OKW?
Thanks
Kerri

to me the best places are away from HH.

but with a child you main thing might be the pool. So ask to be near HH.

there is no food court at OKW. Only a restuarant and 2 snack bar. One snack bar is at the main pool. the other snack bar is at another pool - turtles shack.

here is a map'
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/okwmap.htm

OKW's Community hall is smaller than SSR - but they do have similar things - only alot less at OKW.

they kept changing the table - it is a game table - so I can't tell you what it is now -

The OKW Community Hall has Air Hockey, Foosball, a Pool Table, Darts, Computers and Games.

You can also check-out the necessary equipment for ping-pong and shuffleboard.

Just remember, after being in a 1 BR at OKW, you might be spoiled and not want to stay at the other resorts. (OKW has the largest villas in DVC.)

We just returned from a 1 BR in OKW last week. These villas are HUGE! I love the bright colors & decor of OKW.

The restaurant on property, Olivia's, is really one of Disney's best kept secrets. Great food and excellent service, and is suprisingly seldom crowded. Good kid's menu, too. The pool is very very close to Olivia's & Goods To Go (snack bar).

they use to have video games too (when the kids were small)- now I think they just have the computer games - and maybe still netindo????? (sp)

I like the fact you can take the bus to travel within the resort. The Hospitality House, pool, etc is the last stop, so get on at any other stop and you will go the the HH. To go back to your villa, the first stop (peninsular rd) is just a short walk away. Also like the fact you can take the boat to DTD. Finally, OKW has the best 1BR and 2BR villas, so much space!

thanks everyone.....I'm sooo excited to try OKW:goodvibes

Do they have organized kids activities like SSR?

Is it necessary to make ADR's at Olivia's?
Thanks
Kerri

...they do have kids activities.

Make sure you get a list of whats going on when you check in.

Or you can also get the activity list at Hank's.

My kids enjoyed the community hall. When we were there last it had video games and lots of board games. We actually enjoyed the pool near our unit because it was always empty and a short walk. We also rented bikes one afternoon. We love OKW.

Can you take the bikes on the path to DTD or SSR?

Can't wait to go to OKW.....
thanks everyone
Kerri

There is a sign posted at the entrance to the path to SSR to the effect of "No bikes allowed.'

You forgot to mention the mature plants that make any walk enjoyable thru the dappled shade. There is also a lovely view of the golf course--and the rooms!! You gotta love the sizes of those one, two, and three bedroom villas!:cheer2:

Can't wait to see OKW.....and I know I will be spoiled by the room size.

We'll be making our first trip "home" to OKW in February  We can't wait!!!

...form OKW to SSR, and it's a fairly easy walk of about 10 minutes--approx 2/3 mile or so.

The path is flat and follows the canal. It enters SSR near the ferry launch to OKW and DTD.

Enjoy your stay at OKW, and let us know the details when you get back.

Just got back from SSR....and took the ferry/boat over to OKW to check it out for our June trip!

Fell in love with SSR...but OKW is fewer points and larger 2 bdr's!! I am still doing research on what buildings/area to request!! The main pool did not seem that big, although there is a great sand play area for our DD who will be just abt 2 when we are there!
The bar is small...but cozy and great margaritas from Ramona! The quick service is small, but all CM's were great that I encountered!!
Will be waiting to hear abt your trip in April!!!

We are staying at OKW in May. I have been vying for it with DH and the kids, but they kept wanting to stay at SSR. Last Feb, we ended up on a bus back to SSR from DTD that dropped off at OKW, too. We drove through the resort and I looked at DH and he said "we are staying here next spring, aren't we??"

Yep!! So beautiful. I cannot wait.

I'm soooo excited. I can't wait to be back at WDW and
try OKW....everyone made it sound awesome:goodvibes
