Just so you all know... you can now book OKW near HH as a seperate booking catagory.

I called to make Aug reservations and the CM said... I have rooms both near the HH or elsewhere which do you prefer... and it also now shows up on the DVC member website as...

Disney's Old Key West Resort Accommodation Studio near Hosp.Hous

Where as before is was just OKW Studio!

Thought I would pass along the news..

Also last week I talked to a CM and she said, they show buildings 11-14 and 23-26 as the buildings they have earmarked as -near the HH- She went on to say none of the 60's would be included in the new catagory, because they need those for people with special needs...

Are they giving you choice of building, or just somewhere in that area? I think originally some posters reported being given specific building assignments.

I'm sure everyone has their own preference, but having a car, we'd sure rather be in 23-26.

I was not given a building option.. and I agree I too would rather be in the those buildings...

Although I doubt we will request near HH again, this trip it's just me and the kids, so I thought walking distance from the main pool would be the way to go. (it will be 3 against 1)

That's good to know that they finally got SOMETHING fixed in the computer!

How about with no car? :goodvibes

I agree, and for the same reasons. I guess that buildings 23-26 will be a request within the guaranteed booking category of Near HH??? :confused3

Having or not having a car has nothing to do with it other than buildings 11-14 often have full parking lots because of overflow from the serious lack of parking at HH. Folks drive to HH and then just leave their car there or in the lots for buildings 11-14 instead of taking the bus. BIG inconvenience for both the folks in those buildings and for those trying to check in or just visit Olivia's.

Great! We plan on visiting OKW late Jan. 2010. I just can't wait that long though. I'm really excited to try it out. ;)

Thanks for the info, I will definately take advantage of this. We are planning staying at OKW for the first time for our April quick trip down.

Can anyone advise - is the bus stop at the HH the first stop in the OKW loop? What I mean to say is, if I am able to get into building 11 for eample, and board a Park bus at the HH stop, do I then go to all the stops in OKW before finally going to the PArk? If yes, do you know the approx loop route time (I am used to SSR which is about 10 mins I would say). Also is the HH then the first drop off stop on the way back from the Parks? Thanks in advance and sorry about the OT post :)

I'm surprised those are the only buildings listed as near HH. We stayed in building 18 over the summer and thought that was close and had a nice view as well. I would think that first group of buildings in Miller's Road would be considered close (and wouldn't have the bus noise).

I haven't gone in over a year, but the bus use to stop at the HH first and last thing throught the resort. I don't know if that has changed since.

The HH is the last stop on the bus route. I believe only the internal bus stops at HH both the first and last stop.

Great!

I just called on Jan 8th and made ressies for Dec.

When I asked about the HH booking class, the MS person took a while to ask and said, "Not yet".

Would it be worth the effort to try and go back and change this?

This is really funny as I just cancelled and rebooked a reservation at OKW today using different points and I was sure the very pleasant CM told me that I would not be able to have near HH which I did not request to begin with. I said great I would prefer to be at South Point or Turtle Pond. After reading this thread I went in and checked and it seems I have a reservation for a dedicated 2 BR near the HH. Sure hope I don't get building 14 - We had that one time and while it was very secure during the hurricane I would not want that unit again. The view is of the entry road and you get to listen to the buses changing gears as they enter and leave the resort and stop at the stop sign by Miller Road. My last choice of rooms is near HH so guess I will call and ask to have something else noted and then someone who really wants that area can have it.
