Just booked my parents' cabin!!

I opted to stay with ocean view as we all agree that is really all we need - we are in 2002 and 2004 on the Magic!

I input their reservation number when I looked at mine where it said "Making plans with others?" and theirs shows below mine when I click "My Reservations" so does that mean that they are linked? Or do I still need to call?

And just clarifying that when our booking window opens, I can book things like Palo for us all at the same time. And then though I need to do it separately I can check both cabins in for PAT? And if necessary put in dummy information and have them go back in and fix it? Or leave their payment as cash and they can go in and add their credit card?

Yes, what you describe means that your reservations are linked - no need to call. When you go to make plans like Palo, you will see both cabins and everyone's name. So as long as your booking window opens at the same time (both same level Castaway Club) you will be able to go into your reservation and make Palo reservations for you and your parents.
