Has anyone stayed here before? I've made a list of what we'd like to do (arriving Thursday am and leaving Sunday afternoon), but any suggestions are very welcome!

It's located at 540 Park Ave. I'm really interested in finding a good Italian restaurant nearby. Any ideas?

Also, I'm considering a car service to and from Laguardia. It may total $150. Should I take a cab instead?

Any concerns about taking the subway around the city?

Thanks! We can't wait!

Let us know how it is!! This is on my list.....I LOVE mid town Manhattan!! Well, we asked a cop about a good italian restaraunt. I want to say its called "John's". It's off the strip of Times Square, going towards the broadway shows theatre district. It was great, great prices. Not a touristy spot. You must see "Madam Tussauds Wax Museum". Its awesome!

You can ask the Concierge Desk at the hotel for restaurant suggestions.

Last summer when we stayed in the Times Square Area, the Hilton Concierge Desk suggested Bond 45 and the Brooklyn Diner.
At Bond 45 , we had their signature thin crust pizza for lunch which was very good. Their antipasto bar looked wonderful.
At the Brooklyn Diner, we had their Cinnamon Raisin & Pecan French Toast for breakfast. It was wonderful.

We also ate at Morton's Steakhouse for Dinner during that trip. It was very good.

Thanks for these links! I have them saved......:thumbsup2

Im obsessed with NYC! I go every year! Go to Little Italy and just pick a place. Eat outside on the street and people watch---its the best.
Oh, and take a cab--its like 40 bucks if that. No reason to spend 150 and its SO fun to have the crazy cab ride.
I also love "Milk and Cookies" in the Village. You can have homemade cookies in all kinds of crazy flavors and they make ice cream sammies out of them! Across the street from it a little ways is an awesome mexican place for margaritas and chips and salsa. email me katie.siloac@gmail.com if you want any more suggestions. I could talk about NYC all day! :)

We stayed there last summer and loved it! Here is a link to a post about it..

Also, we asked the concierge for a great restaurant in the area that wasn't touristy and they directed us to an amazing italian restaurant. It was about two blocks away and was down in a basement but was beautiful. Very small though so good thing they made us reservations earlier in the day. Very expensive though...we had six people and you don't even want to know the total!!!

Thanks for the book reference. I devour the UG and Passporter for each and every WDW trip, makes sense to do the same for our NYC trip.

I'm also planning a DL/San Francisco/Yosemite trip for summer '10, a WDW trip in summer '11, a DL Paris trip for my DD's graduation in 2013, and a Tokyo Disney trip for my DS' graduation in 2015. And I need the spirit of Roy Disney to help me find funding. That faint "pop" you hear in the future may be my head exploding.

We love the Eyewitness travel guides.

When you get closer to your Paris travel dates, definitely pick up the latest edition of the Eyewitness and Rick Steves guidebooks for Paris. Eyewitness also has guidebooks for San Francisco and California.
