I cant believe this! After years and years of booking 9-12 months ahead of holidays, in the last 7 days I've managed to book for this August:

  • The cheapest flights we've found for 9 years

  • The cheapest 7 seater mini van we've EVER booked!

    • The cheapest 4 bed pool house we've EVER booked
Either something weird is happening, or I've been very very lucky!!!

Just need to find the cheapest theme park tickets now!

Matt

Either way you've been very lucky, have a great time! Not jealous at all haha

Thanks. The downside is that it's for the shortest length Florida holiday we've ever been on too!! :crazy2:
DD keeps reminding me how I've often said how people who choose to go all that way for only 2 weeks are bonkers... still, I'd sooner go for 2 weeks than not at all!!!! Bonkers or not!
And, more importantly, it's as close to 'Orlando on a budget' that we've ever managed to achieve!:goodvibes

Well done! It's good to see that at least some folk (or maybe just you ;) ) get the odd great deal :thumbsup2: So you get to book your holiday and still be approaching your SDD! :banana:Fancy that!

lol, it's a rare event indeed! Just wish I could make my counter work again, I must be getting old!!!

Good for you :) Have a great cheap (er/ish) trip. I'm happy to hear about anyone getting a good deal.

Come on then, spill the beans - where did you get the flights, and, especially, the car from? :)

Flights ended up being via Globehunters, AA flights from Manchester via Chicago, great connections, £564 each adult, all within the school holidays.

Car hire was with Auto Europe, £137/week for a 7 seater minivan, all inclusive, not including fuel though. May (not expecting it to be honest) get cash back via Quidco too! The prices fluctuated wildly each day, took a week of watching and waiting for the price to fall to this point.

4 bed house on Eagle Point, pool, games room, £340/week.

Also bought a Eat and Play Card Orlando for £12, some good dining discounts for those not staying on site.

All in all, and I know there will be folk out there that can better these prices, I'm happy with them, especially considering the holiday is completely in school holidays....

woohooo lucky you, have fun planning. :)

I would love to book a last minute trip :)

Great prices.

Well worth a sign up to some chain restaurant email clubs - deals seem to be coming thick and fast at the minute.

In the last week or so i've had a half price entrée at olive garden, one free entrée at TGI, $10 off bahama breeze, outback discount and more - many were valid for August (shame I'm not going until October!)

Great idea! Will do!!!!
I'd better get looking now :goodvibes

Just in case anyone else is looking, the Globehunter site is now saying £475 for AA flight 20 Aug for 10 days for a search I did for me, my husband and son! So wish I could take advantage of it!!!:hyper:

Excellent :cool1:, I will hopefully be booking my flights next month for our trip next year, enjoy yourselves

I would take prices displayed on the website with an enormous pinch of salt. When I first looked our dates were around that price, and of course when we spoke to a human being, they were miles higher. However, if you rang them and they quoted £475, that would be good!!!!
There appear to be a few websites out there which don't quote live prices, rather what they deem 'historical' prices, prices that they cant for some reason remove from the website even though the seats no longer exist! (if they indeed did ever!) I'm sure its not a ploy to get folk to ring them or anything!!!:rotfl:
That said, the price we got eventually, was great, so I'm not complaining! :goodvibes

Thanks for that, somewhere else to keep an eye on! We're going for 16 days and the cost of the extra 2 days often seems to make a big difference.

Funnily enough, our trip is 16 days too! It came to £315 for the 16 days, hence the £137/week I posted. Quidco are supposed to give 6-7% (I forget the figure now) cash back, but reviews of Auto Europe with Quidco are terrible, so I'm not banking on seeing any of that cash back. Just so you know, the car hire is with Alamo...

Based upon the countdown timer in your banner, It looks like you are going the 19th August, returning the 2nd or 3rd September.
I’ve just tried to book flights with AA direct using those dates and the cheapest flight was £1158 per person, most around £1600 - £2000 pp.

Priced up via GlobeHunters and I get £606 for flights + villa.

This is a bargain and I’m really up for it, but I’m a bit nervous never having used their company before. Hope you don’t mind, but :

Did you book the villa through the same site as I cant see Eagle Point listed?

Can you please confirm the dates you used, and was the price agreed on the telephone.
Did you pay by credit card and have you received written/email confirmation of the flight yet.

I’d book @ £606 myself instantly if I could trust the company, but the following reviews really made me nervous !

Hi.
No, we always book direct with villa owners, I like to know where the house is EXACTLY, and who owns it!
On many occasions I've been quoted flight prices with middle men which going direct I couldn't get near. In fact, apart from only one occasion, Virgin a few years ago, that has happened most of the times I can remember!
Yes, the price was agreed on the telephone, and yes I got a quick confirmation from them, and yes I paid with a credit card (hopefully this gives us a little security). To be honest, if you look hard enough you'll probably get poor reviews about most companies. And with only 2 and a bit weeks out, I don't particularly want to read damning stories about the company we've bought flights from! Thus far, they've been great with us.:)
