Just booked Kidani 7 months out!! Also dining reservation info!!

We originally booked our home resort at BLT and today changed that to AKV Kidani!! I requested a 2nd or 3rd floor near the lobby and was told it was no problem!! With two young children we figured AKV would be more fun for them, after all it's all about the kids... RIGHT!!!

ALso, while I was on the phone I asked how far out we can book dining as we want to take the kids to Chef Mickey. I was told that as of October 27, 2009 they are changing it from 90 days to 120 days and I could call November 19th for my trip!!!

Now we just have to figure out what to do while were there with a DS who will be 6, and a DD who will be 2!!!

And thanks to all the great people on this site who continually help us new inexperienced DVCers try and figure this all out!! Your the greatest!!!

I can't believe you switched from BLT to AKV. I tried to get the opposite for January but it was booked.

Although I think AKV looks AMAZING I'm surprised that you switched too!

I would think that with the ages of your kids that the proximity to MK would trump the animals and water play area at Kidani. But that is what is awesome about WDW and DVC, something for us all

Actually, as of October 27, you should be able to make dining reservations 180 days in advance. I wouldn't want to wait until November 19 to call (if that's your 120 day timeframe) and then find out I couldn't get the reservation I wanted.

By the way, you'll love Kidani. We were there in June and loved it!!

Your request is just that, a request, and is not guaranteed. You may be far from the lobby and on a different floor when you check in. Or you may have the exact location. Just know that it might not be the location you are planning on.

I think they meant no problem noting your request. Your request is probably the most common one at Kidani. I doubt there are many people requesting far from the lobby. There are no guarantees.

But I do think you misunderstood. MS doesn't assign the rooms and a request is only a request. Booking categories will be honored but not room locations. I think they just meant no problem in putting in that particular request.

Since your request is fairly general I'd think there's a good chance of getting it so good luck! Just be prepared that you may not.

I'm waitlisted for BLT for the long Jan weekend -- fingers crossed -- maybe someone else will change from BLT too Have a super stay at AKV -- will be interested in hearing how you like it.

In one my conversations with MS when booking I asked about far south wing requests and he noted they are actually getting a lot requests for away from the lobby in the south wing: it puts you the shortest walking distance to Jambo and its restaurants.
