I just made reservations at Carousel Inn for 7 nights. I was torn between BWPPI and Carousel, but even after I made res. BWPPI is still on my mind. I've seen the pics and the only turn off for me was that the rooms look so dark! I'm hoping for a clean room (no socks turning black), room size, and a comfy bed. How do the Carousel and BWPPI compare? You all have great insights, and I was hoping to end this hotel indecision once and for all. :faint:

I've only stayed at the BWPPI.

The room was quite large (King bed, sofa bed, microwave, fridge) and quite. We were in the room at the front on the ground floor.

I thought the breakfast was good. I've heard they have added some new items-waffles, sausage and scrambled eggs.

I'd go with the one that is cheaper. Others were mentioning Park Vue and how you get a fruit basket and light dinner but when I priced it out for our dates it was quite a bit more money. I'd rather use the $ I save (staying at BWPPI) and buy food I want when I want.

Out of the two, I've only stayed at the BWPPI. But, Both hotels are on the Disney "good neighbor" list as moderates. I'm sure you'll be happy at either one.

I know friends who have stayed at both, I have not, so I think it is a "push" between the two.

Both hotels are fine. You will not be disappointed with either one.

I alway stay at the BWPPI. Yes, the rooms are dark, but the only time I am in my room is to sleep, so I appreciate that. Our friends stay at the Carousel and they have never had a complaint.

Quit stressing....you have more important things to worry about. Like.....do you want the roast beef or the chicken at the Plaza Inn??????

I have stayed at both. And, both are just fine.

I would give an edge to BWPPI because the breakfast is better, a lot more variety and it is closer. And, I have read that recently they added scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffles to their breakfast. In addition to the standard continental breakfast.

The Carousel's breakfast was VERY basic, toast, cereal, apples, oranges, juice, donuts, coffee.

But, honestly, the rooms were about the same...both comfy beds.

If it were me, I would pick the cheaper of the two...but the the edge would go to BWPPI.

We stayed at the Carousel in October. It seemed clean. Breakfast was fine for what it was. The location is fabulous. It's the closest to the park we've ever stayed (and the trip before that was at the DLH).

My only complaint was the size of the rooms. Tiny. We had a standard 2 queen room for two adults and two kids. I always felt like I was tripping over suitcases and shoes because there wasn't a good place to stash things. I don't think I could talk my DH into staying there again just because of that.

We stayed there last month. It is a basic hotel. The room was clean, small, & basic. Breakfast is clean & basic. That is about it. It is NOT a Disney Hotel.

We are staying at the Carousel for 8 nights starting July 27. Got a great deal by just telling them we were also micechat users. Couldn't beat the price. Location looks great. We are just wanting a clean room and bath. We don't spend much time at the hotels, too much to see and do at the parks!;)

Excited to try this hotel for the first time as well :)

Us too! We used the micechat rate to book our December 2012 trip and were able to get $89/night. Certainly not bad for being right across the street! We've heard that the beds are very comfortable, which is an absolute MUST for us.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I have stayed on property at all 3 of the Disneyland Hotels a few times each, and now we have stayed at quite a few of the motels/hotels on Harbor.

I want to preface this by saying this is only my opinion--I know many people here like the BWPPI. I hope I don't offend by giving my opinion.

The absolute worst motel on Harbor I have stayed on is Best Western Park Place Inn. It just seemed sleezy to me. Dark and dirty and loud. I actually would never eat their free breakfast, because it is served at Captin Kidds, which is known by Dineyland lovers far and wide to be the home of food poisining, and I didn't want to chance it. It isn't exactly the same as far as the food of the restaurant, but they use the same facilities and cleaning techniques, along with food storage. It just wasn't worth it to me. The beds weren't comfortable, and the pull out sofa was inappropriate for anyone to sleep on--even a kid.

Yes, it is closest to the crosswalk, but only by a few feet from the Carousel Inn. I have never stayed at Carousel Inn, but from what I can see, they have a much nicer pool that BWPPI. The rooms look a bit brighter and the view definitely looks better.

I have stayed at Howard Johnsons (recommend the highest out of all of the hotels--light, bright rooms, great beds, good views if you pay a little more, nice pool areas, indoor halls), Fairfield Inn (perfectly fine, smaller rooms than Hojo and beds not quite as comfortable) and Candy Cane Inn (great dedicated shuttle, family friendly sweet motel, small rooms, beds too soft, very outdated rooms/bathrooms, no elevator, noisy concrete halls).

Hope your stay at Carousel Inn is a good one. Please come back after and give us your opinion.
